Thankfully YES!!  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

MOCO authorized replacement of all parts with stripes and they have been ordered. Now the wait. I'll be touching base with the parts guy every 2 weeks for an update on my parts. Others have had to wait 3 months for theirs to come in ... hope mine is sooner but since the heavy riding season is past the wait won't be quite as hard.

SE..that is great news!!!  While I am thankful I don't have this issue to deal with, it is frustrating to me for those who do to continue to be jerked around by the Reps, Dealers, and MOCO on a problem that they all know exists.  If I were in many of your shoes, my patience would have long since vanished.  Their is really no excuse for them to deny the problem, and no excuse for them to take so long to get the parts replaced once ordered.  There is NO way it should take 3+ months for them to paint a few square feet of surface, regardless of the paint scheme.

The service guy that handled the ordering of the parts said that when the parts come in he wants me to look at them and make sure they pass my inspection prior to putting them on the bike ... I told him I thought that was a good idea and will do that. I will be bringing my saddlebag with me and will be photographing the lid against all new parts. He & I will then view the pics to judge the quality of the new parts. I'm not taking any chances with flouresent (sp) overhead lighting or a cloudy day.  ;)

Don't want to burst your bubble but I'm on week 11,  and this is my second go around.  All the dealer has gotten so far are 2 saddlebag lower and they where there in about 3 week after they where ordered.

I understand that it's easy to get jaded with this process. I don't understand why it would take so long except that more people are submitting claims and the MOCO is in the thick of a new model year roll out. I'm just hoping for the best and will stay in close touch with my service manager and parts guy. Here's hoping we all get our GOOD parts sooner than later!  [smiley=drink.gif]

Twincam, No, I think it may only be the milky colored parts that get worse with time. My saddlebag lids and rear fender never had the problem and still look perfect - like new! Now that you've got all matching good parts you've should have nothing to worry about. And, I may be wrong about the time thing. It just seemed to me that my problem became more & more apparent the longer I had it. Maybe it was me becoming more & more tired of not being able to get it to have the luster I knew it should have.

My Parts are in, Nancy the warranty rep at San Ramon harley, called and said that ALL parts are here, along with my new mirrors that the chrome is pitted on. I am not going to get excited just yet, not with the problems some of you others are having with replacment parts, I am going down with one of my saddle bags, lid and all, and compare. I wont accept ANY of the parts if for some reason ANY ONE/or more of them isnt perfect. (The reason Im not taking the whole bike is...it started raining last night and should continue into next week, and I just polished all my chrome and conditioned it in a 3 hour process, and i dont want water spots on it, lol) I also dont want a patchwork bike, I want a matching paint set, the kind of factory paint job you are entitled too when you drive that puppy off the showroom floor, nothing more, nothing less. Nancy agreed that would be the correct way to do it, if I accept less than perfect parts, or partial parts, I will be in the same boat that Im already in. I had John HD's warranty rep in Milwalkee, and also McQuires word that they would make this right. If Im Happy with the New parts, and then the lids and inner fairing dont match, they said they would replace those too.

On a side note, Bob Drons HD in Oakland Calif. who I bought this bike from, and who also refused to help me with my paint issue, along with several various other troubles I had with this bike since purchase, has a used '06 Black crimson for sale ....they should contact San Ramon HD service dept. in order to get the paint fixed on that mother....cause Drons Service Dept. isn't capable of accomplishing this feat.......... Somewhere in this thread it is mentioned how to tell whether you have the new paint process (less clearcoat).  On my bike, which I believe has the new process, when you feel the striped parts with your fingertips, there is a small difference where the stipes are.  In other words, you can feel the stripes.  It still has plenty of clearcoat, and it's not really an "edge", but you can feel it.  I ran into a guy the other day who had the bad paint (it was obvious to me, but he was not aware, and I sure didn't say anything to him) and I ran my fingertips over the bag stripes and they felt different than mine...no difference going from the black to the stripes.  If any of this makes any sense to you, that is a way to check...the difference is very slight, but can be felt.  Mine has been out in the sun/weather riding/traveling since June and I cannot tell any changes have occured in the clearcoat.

Going to meet an area rep in Trussville, AL this afternoon for another look.  It is a beautiful day here.  No clouds......and my paint problems are readily visible.  Hopefully he can see them.

My Parts are in

Mike,

You have been waiting longer than most if not all of us for your parts.  I truly hope that the visit to the shop today will be a pleasant one and you will find the parts to be totally acceptable.

We're all pulling for you [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Mike... I know you're excited to finally get your parts... sounds like you have a good plan to compare parts. After dealing with all parties involved and reading posts here I believe it is critical to be sure ALL the parts match BEFORE the dealer installs them on the bike, otherwise they'll say "Well, you said they were OK......", and then you're screwed. Better to turn down bad paint than live with it.
Good luck and keep us posted (pics and all!). [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Best of luck to you, Bagger.  While you are there, check out the new 06 Melon they have on the floor that was an end of the year production.  In fact, if the one on the floor has the new paint process, which I suspect it does, one GREAT way to compare would get them to roll the new one outside next to yours!!!  It's probably still there, as they are wanting 2K over MSRP for an 06!!

Good luck, Bagger. I'm sure he'll see the problem. And because HD has replaced others I can't see any reason they could deny yours. IMHO the best thing to look at first is comparing the saddlebags to the lids and rear fender. This is where it's most obvious. Once he has an idea what he's looking at he'll readily see it in the other parts.
