OK, just got back from inspecting new parts...I walked in with an old  side cover and the old right bag and Lid, they opened up SOME of  the boxes, outter fairing, lower bag, side cover., couldnt see much difference in the flourasant lights of the shop, and it was  cloudy and raining outside, the person who I was dealing with originally there wasnt in, and the service manager has looked at me like Im nuts since I took the bike in the very first time and I told him that ' I have a claim number and new parts on the way' , and didnt want Oakland HD touching my bike, he didnt see the difference since day one, and he seemed surprized that I actually even really got all new parts like I said I would from MoCo, and now, after all the hoopla on my part , the new parts dont look much different than the ones I am complaining about, so went out to my truck, got the DeWalt high-powered flashlite and showed the Service manager the difference of my old parts, the lower bag and the lid....then on the new bag sitting right next to the old one with the lite, ...by-god, its Black !!!! and there are Red Crimson flakes that can be seen with no cloudychitbrown clearcoat. same thing with the other new parts, he then understood what I was talking about, lol. Great, I may be in luck here, I have appointment Monday to leave the bike, and get the parts installed...now, I will be stressing all weekend wondering if they will put my tank emblems on crooked like wrongways scooter, just cant win here , can I?. lol.

Well, lets hope everyone gets this corrected that is trying too here, I shouldnt be bitching, I am getting somewhere at least, but it aint over till its over. This has seemed to be such an uphill battle, but looks like MoCo is trying to do the right thing, so I wish everyone else the best of luck also. One thing I learned out of all this, is, ....it really does matter how well, the service Dept. is at each dealership, San Ramon may be a small shop, but they treat you with respect and seem to try a lot harder than were I purchased the bike. Overall I have been treated great at a place that I didnt even buy the scooter from. Pictures will come next week with update.

Somewhere in this thread it is mentioned how to tell whether you have the new paint process (less clearcoat).  On my bike, which I believe has the new process, when you feel the striped parts with your fingertips, there is a small difference where the stipes are.  In other words, you can feel the stripes.  It still has plenty of clearcoat, and it's not really an "edge", but you can feel it.  I ran into a guy the other day who had the bad paint (it was obvious to me, but he was not aware, and I sure didn't say anything to him) and I ran my fingertips over the bag stripes and they felt different than mine...no difference going from the black to the stripes.  If any of this makes any sense to you, that is a way to check...the difference is very slight, but can be felt.  Mine has been out in the sun/weather riding/traveling since June and I cannot tell any changes have occured in the clearcoat.
just checked mine TCBham is correct you can feel the strips alot more then the old paint (milky dud ) good way to check if it isn't sunny, good luck to all!!! [smiley=drink.gif]

Best of luck to you, Bagger.  While you are there, check out the new 06 Melon they have on the floor that was an end of the year production.  In fact, if the one on the floor has the new paint process, which I suspect it does, one GREAT way to compare would get them to roll the new one outside next to yours!!!  It's probably still there, as they are wanting 2K over MSRP for an 06!!

Yeah, I saw that melon...........$34,995.00!  WOW!  I looked hard at the paint.  Felt the stripes.  It is a June 06 build.  Guess what?  Under flourescent lights the tank looks milky........and I cannot feel any difference in texture over the stripes like I can on my right saddlebag.  I got there early while the rep was still at lunch, so I got to go over that melon pretty good with the same idea as you.  Turns out it would not be a good comparison.  Someone will buy it tho'.
My visit was well worth the 268 mile round trip. I'm getting exactly what I want.  Not sure when my new parts will be in.  I'm just so doggone happy that new paint is on the way.  I will be called when the new parts are in so I can inspect the parts prior to replacement.  I'll plan that trip on a sunny day with the bike in the trailer for comparison.  If everything is in order, then I'll leave the bike so they can replace the parts.
Beautiful ride from Huntsville to Trussville today.  Went down 231 to I59.  The leaves are at their peak.  Fall has to be the best time to ride.

Mike,
My heart is with you! The paint I got was unreal, BLACK in the shade and CHRIMSON in the sun :). Next year or ? when we ride side by side again the bikers on the side of the road will REALLY take notice. Did you notice the looks we got on Mount Rose when we passed groups of bikes? That many Screamin Eagles in one group? What a sight! Your gonna FINALLY love your bike.  Dave

Bagger...that one might have used the painted parts that they had left over...I did not have an opportunity to check it out with my fingers when I was in there a couple of weeks ago.  Since the Melons were not the most popular color, I'll bet they had some painted parts left over from earlier production and sent them out to the dealers at year end.  Please do not take offense at that remark, as I think the green on the scoot is beautiful!!

I'm glad that Riders took care of you, bro, and got your parts ordered.  I couldn't deal with them on my bike,so bought from Mobile, but they do try to be customer oriented.  The main thing that matters is that you got the result you were after  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] and have new parts coming...hope they get here soon, and are perfect for you.  We need to get together and ride sometime...there are some nice rides between here and Huntsville, 231 being one of them.  Get in touch buddy, and we'll meet somewhere and take a ride.

My tank, front fender and fairing have not yet arrived, but my dealer checks every week and calls me.

Have to admit I only waxed the good parts last weekend.  I feel so guilty!

Beat me, hit me hurt me....show me how to love!!1 ;)

TC,  After the ordeal I've been through with my melon, I've developed some thick skin.  I don't take offense to much anymore.  I love that scooter, and that is what really matters.  Despite her paint issues, she is a great girl.
Riders seems to be a great dealership.  I remember when the dealer in Pelham was called Riders.  They're Heart of Dixie now.  Anyway, the last time I was in the new Riders was when we had our daughter at UAB Children's Hospital last summer.  Needed the break.  Anyway, I was impressed with their attitude then.  The only problem was we lived in Enterprise at the time.  Now things are different since we live just north of Huntsville.  They treated me great yesterday, however I'm keeping my guard up for two reasons:  First, my bike hasn't been fixed yet.  Second, I gotta wonder if their actions were a show since the rep was right there with me.  We'll see.
I'd love to get together and ride.  Since the weather has turned cooler I've shifted the focus of my sparse free time to completing my private pilot license.  I'm flying tomorrow, and Sunday is a study day.  We'll get together and ride sometime tho'.
