Falcon,

Looks like you got some of that "Ultra-Clear" clearcoat.  I can see straight though it!

I have a great dealer that loaned me his 2006 Ultra to go on a 170 mile HOG chapter ride. I can’t use my bike, as it doesn’t have any painted parts on it.
But, like they say no good deed shall go unpunished so I sent him these e-mails.

Hi George

I received a call from the dealership today asking that I return the Ultra Classic you were kind enough to let me borrow. When I looked in the garage, sure enough, it was still there. Let me say I’m a firm believer that when you borrow something it should be returned as soon as possible and in the same, if not better shape then when it was loaned. The problem I’m having is this; I can’t get an authorization number to pay someone to trailer the bike back to the dealership until a rep. comes out to verify that the bike is in fact still in my garage. Further, the rep. isn’t scheduled to be back in this area for another two weeks. I know this is a bunch of b.s. Believe me I’m on your side on this one.  Tell you what let me call the rep. and I’ll get right back to you.

Thanks so Much
Paul

Then I followed up with…..

Hey George

I just got off the phone with the rep. and he agrees that you should get the bike back A.S.A.P. However, before he spends the money paying somebody to trailer it he wants to
try something. You’re not going to believe it and I already told him that it’s not going to work but if he wants to try it I have to let him. I’m suppose to write down the address of the dealership and place it on the seat of the bike for one week to see if the bike can find it’s own way home. He has assured me that if after one week this doesn’t work he will fly in an expert to try it, some mailman from Salem that has had success-getting letters to deliver themselves. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime let me know if the bike shows up.

I’m with you on this one
Paul

We both had a good laugh and he told me I could keep test riding the bike for the time being

Can we get a summary of what has been done to the bad paint jobs and where they stand?

I’ll start…#1 buffed out by dealer, did not work.  #2 Tins taken off bike, sent to MoCo, buffed out by MoCo, did not work. #3 MoCo orders new tins, after several week new tins come to dealer they look just as bad as the old ones so the dealer refuses to put them on. #4 MoCo sends out my original set of tins to an “expert” to have him buff them out, did not work.

Currently I have two sets of bad tins sitting at the dealer. I don’t want them, the dealer doesn’t want to put them on, the rep. doesn’t blame us and I’m riding the dealers Ultra.

1) Rep at stealer number 1 said it is suppose to be that way...case closed.
2) Rep at dealer number 2 had the dealer do the pointless buff thing.
3) Dealer phone call to MoFOCo

Jan 2nd...Salesman says take to service
Service acts like I am bothering them.

Rep named Vern, comes the next week and looks at it.
Service acts like its none of my buisness what was said or what Verns last name is. Service acts like I am bothering them.

Service says thats the way its supposed to look even though the bike was buffed out pre-delivery. Service acts like I am bothering them.

Service says if I dont like the Reps answer, that I can call the customer care number in the back of my handbook. Then says "Bye" walks away, Obviously Im bothering them.

While all this is ocurring, Found this web site, also found out that many others with the same issue, but they have the backing of their dealership. Also find John Selenskys phone # at MoCo.

Call John, he admits theres a problem and they are working on it,.

Wrote Letters to C.E.O, the Quaility Control Head, and the President of MoCo, Havent heard form any of them or anybody but John Selensky since. Who says its out of his hands to the higher ups at this point.

Go back to dealer and complain to the G.M. that I was blown off by them about the paint when there are many others that have the backing of their dealership on this  issue, he looks at paint, says that "the paint doesnt match" and "Thats all I need to see" and also "Ill call you"...5 weeks later, havent heard from the G.M.

In meantime, have more conversations with John Selensky, he says, They are still working on a fix, but not sure when and even 'if' one will be figured out.

Service guy when Im picking up my bike from faulty o-ring in oil pump that they tried to blame on me, in my complaints to him about all the BS I have put up with starting with the paint, says, "Oh, I talked to the Rep named Vern the other day, and he said to order you new parts in 60 days, that they will be the correct color by then....only he said that the Rep named Vern (Still no last name), said to order only new lids, and new inner fairing.

Asked service guy if he was sure thats what was said, because I kind of like the only Black Crimson parts that are on my bike as opposed to the Brown Crimson, he told me he'd call the rep, and ask and then call me back...never heard back from service as of yet, nor would I bet money that I do after Bob Dron the owner gets my 4 page letter I fired off yesterday. The 10th of March.....

Also enclosed a copy of this letter along with the Survey of how Bob Drons treated me after sale. Its the survey you get the first week after buying the new bike, its not the one from the dealership. Im so glad I waited to fill this out, being lazy does have its upside sometimes. Copies also sent to C.E.O, President and Quality Control Head at MoCo.
