« on: July 12, 2009, 01:17:55 AM »

Took everyones advice and got excited and ordered the Bitubo's... Mike and Dan were great....  They showed up the next day and I went to my shop to put them on.... With my leather bags there is no way in hell they will fit. Upside down,  left right.. Not gonna work!!! 08 SERK,  and they knew it!!!

I need to talk to the Traxxion boys monday,  but even the bolt holes are too big... Not happy...

I leave Sat for a week trip and need something asap...

People either hate or love the 440's and not enuf info on the works... HELP!!!!!!

Keep your eyes posted on the for sale section for the Bitubo if they dont take them back

If they knew the Bitubo's wouldn't fit your bike, they wouldn't have sold them to you.  I've talked a lot to those guys & they're real fair.  You may have something wrong in your install, or maybe you're right & they don't fit.  If they don't fit, they will take them back.  I promise!  8)

No idea what you're seeing with even the bolt holes not fitting.  All the touring bikes use the same size (1/2") bolt for the shock mounts.  Leather saddlebags make no difference to the size of bolt used.

Did you get and use the sleeves that line the shock grommets?  If you didn't use them the holes in the shocks would appear to be too large.

Nope,

They didnt ship any sleeves (which would have fixed the issue)  They also didnt ship the wrench to adjust the top.  One shock was set to 15mm and the other was set to zero...

The shocks will actually fit the bike,  but the leather saddle bags have a different countour then the hard bags,  and thats the problem.  But after the hours I spent on the phone,  I wish they would have thought about that.. The invoice even says 08 SERK.....  I am sure they will take em back,  but just upset over the $$ I paid to R&R the old ones and the fact that I cant use these great shocks :(

Mine rub! No one is ever going to see your backside (of the saddlebag). Just use them.

I dont care if they rub at all,  but they physically wont fit.  The shock does,  but there is no room for the canister with the way the bag is molded :(

Just grab your canister and bend it around until it fits.  Hit it with a sledge hammer if you need to.

Don't worry, they use nitrogen in tires, how bad could it be? ???  :D ;D :D

No really, try turning the shock upside down. Chief did this with his when he first got them. It may work, and the result will be the same.

Look over Howie's (Hoist) post on mounting the Bitubos. He did it for his 07 SERK and got em to fit. This was before he went to hard bags. I believe the only difference in the 07 vs 08 leather bags is the pattern in the leather Here's a link. Hope this helps. Good luck.

JW,

We tried EVERYTHING.. There is just a short tunnel for the shock itself cut into the bag...  I wanted nothing more than to be able to use these!  I came VERY close to taking a dremel to the bags to make them fit..... I am truley bummed!!!!

I am looking @ Ohlins from motorcyclemetal.com now...

I am SOO Bummed....

Did you turn them upside down? With the reservoir at the bottom?
