I'm confused.  Did they pull your wheel previously to check the code and then reinstall it after finding a suspect code?  Or do they think they will get a wheel without first reporting to Harley that you have a suspect wheel?  My understanding of the program is that no wheels will be shipped until the dealer contacts H-D with the info from your bad wheel, and they will then overnight the wheel to the dealer.  It's being done that way because the supplier only gave them the right quantity to replace the exact number of suspect wheels.  If they haven't previously checked your wheel and found it to be bad, you may be waiting a long time for that replacement to show up.

Harley Davidson recall on 2009 CVO RG rear wheel!
« Reply #261 on: August 04, 2009, 09:53:03 AM »

As reported in Dealer news

HARLEY-DAVIDSON CVO ROAD GLIDE

Harley-Davidson is recalling about 1,759 units of its 2009 FLTRSE3 CVO Road Glide motorcycles equipped with Blade rear wheel accessory kits.

The OEM says some wheels underwent a secondary heat treatment process which may have caused a crack in the wheel and result in wheel failure.

Dealers are asked to remove the rear wheel and inspect the manufacturer's code. Wheels that underwent a secondary heat treatment process are to be replaced free of charge.

Is this a new recall, different than the Blade wheel recall already posted here?

This just showed up in my E mail this morning. Could be old news? Just thought I would pass it on.

Took mine in this morning because I got the letter, they broke down the tire and wheel and checked the wheel for codes R1 or R2 mine had R3 so they remounted it and said I was good to go.Talked to Matt at customer service he said only the wheels with R1&2 codes were sent through the heat treating process twice and thats why they would only send replacements after inspections were done by the dealer.

Take mine to the dealer today to check rear rim codes on the silver bullet. Also check the front end wobble and tires for cupping. I bought my RG the first of Oct. of last year the earlier model :2vrolijk_21:
