I'm or should I say we (my SERG and I) are on the lucky side,
because we are not listed. By the way my stealer has no
clou about that.

Well I made the list.  My dealer says there is no information or parts being shipped until the 20th.

I heard through the grape vine that those with cracked wheels will get their bikes replaced with the new 2010 SERG5. It appears that a cracked wheel causes vibrations that resonate all the way through the frame which causes microscopic stress cracks that are so small they can't be detected without the use of an electron microscope. There is only one of these machines in the U.S., located in Samoa and the cost would be too high for transportation and the testing. So the right thing to do would be to just give us new ones. I'm going to bring mine in first thing tomorrow so I can be first in line. I want that new color for 2010, hydraulic green. T,

I just checked my vin and I'm on the list.

Called my dealer - they had no clue but are trying to get some info. My manufacturing date: 12/08. What is scary to me is that I hit some major pot holes (unavoidable) here in Massachusetts within the last few months and if my wheel was going to crack, it would have and if not, its cracked now.

In any case, it would be cool if they replaced the tire as well - new rubber with new wheel sounds right for the inconvenience.

I have an appointment for 7/22 to pull the wheel, remove the tire, and inspect the wheel.  Guess they will order the parts then if there is a problem.  I hope they can get them soon if necessary.  I am planning to leave for Sturgis on the 31st.  That's cutting it close.

I am not happy.

OTOH, I told my other to sue the hell out of the MoCo if the wheel breaks and I die.

I know I will sue the hell out of them if the wheel breaks and I don't die.

Every one should have been informed by mail like automobile owners do. I cannot believe that this site and word of mouth are the main source of information. I fell like a second rate citizen for sure. I think two cans and a string are what they use at MoCo to send out recalls.... :drink:

I think you're right.  My dealer knew about it but I haven't received any notification yet from the company.  Guess they don't care about someone who might have a trip planned soon.

I had a Chevy dually crewcab with Alcoa aluminum wheels on it.  4 years after installation, I was cruising the Alcoa website and came across a recall for my rims.  Contacted Alcoa and all looked after.  This was after registering the product and all.  Just goes to show you.
BTW my silver SERG isn't on the list, leaving for Sturgis in 10 days yahooooo :cucumber:

They will send you something in the mail. I had a recall sent to me on an 08' fuel pump problem 3 weeks after I found out about it on the forum.

2009 CVO Road Glide - Safety Recall 7/14/09
« Reply #58 on: July 15, 2009, 12:49:27 AM »

Hello fellow CVO members,

I'm new to this forum and have only had my 2009 SE CVO Road Glide about 6 weeks.  This bike is my fifth Harley in about 8 years, and I like it, but there are some issues I'm still not comfortable with, but the reason for this post is a SAFETY RECALL that just came out today.  I got a call this a.m. from my dealer and they told me that some of the 09 CVO Road Glides built between Oct. 2008 and June 2009 are subject to a recall on the rear wheel.  Apparently there were some wheels that were heat treated twice and they are prome to cracking or breaking, and there could be a very serious probem if that were to happen at speed.  Apparently only about 10 - 15 percent of the bikes manufactured during that time could be a problem, and I am taking my bike in tomorrow to have it checked.  If you have not heard from your dealer, I would suggest you give them a call regarding this matter.  Ride safely,  Bill
