...  I bought the Orange & Black 07 Jester because I LOVED the way the bike looked.  Even with the issues I have not considered trading it and I have NO regrets...

When I saw the '07 O/B Jester I knew it was going to be mine. I could have bought the same bike in red for $1000 less. It's what I wanted. Does the rear fender on the SESG look cool, yeah. So does the SERG and I like that bike a lot but it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that I have become accustom to. The SEUC is Harley's "Top Of The Line" bike whether it's an '07 or a '10.

True Spydy, but how much do you think he's going to drop on the SESG to personalize it? I've got well over $5K in mine.

This is a Good point to consider.  I agree with AJ & Dood go with the Ultra and make what you don't like detachable.  I have removed my tourpack and installed a solo seat with pillion so I can ride solo.  When my wife rides 99% of the time I just put the tourpack back on for her comfort, the lights and communications I have made plug n play so I just plug and unplug as needed.  You can do the same thing with the lowers even with the HW setup.  I like my lowers on so I have never considered making them detachable but it would be easy.

Install AK-20s and Bitubos and you are done.  I can change from solo to 2up in about 10 minutes.

I think the $5000 difference you would easily spend buying the accessories for the Street Glide, actually you would probally end up spending more.

In the end though it comes down to what color scheme YOU LIKE - If you like the way the Street Glide Paint scheme looks then that is the bike for you and add the mods -If you like the Ultra paint scheme better than choose that.  I bought the Orange & Black 07 Jester because I LOVED the way the bike looked.  Even with the issues I have not considered trading it and I have NO regrets.  I spent the money to get the bike the way I wanted it and I Love it!  Alot of other members have Beautiful bikes that have bought and feel the same way.  Until Harley comes out with another bike that has a paint scheme and accessiories I like better I  have NO desire to trade.

The Great News IS Either way you will have a NICE Bike! :2vrolijk_21:

Just out of curiosity...what did you do with the amp located under the tourpak?

Just out of curiosity...what did you do with the amp located under the tourpak?

Most of us have gone with different speaker / amp units that are mounted under the fairing.  There was a post on here awhile back about someone who saw the factory amp remounted on the side of a saddle bag. It did nothing for me and I wanted a better system.

Here is a thread on that:
http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=35795.0

There are several threads talking about the different options you have for speakers and amps.

Sure did.  I just put a check in the "con" column of the SEUG.  "Stereo should be replaced". ;)

It is amazing to me, if I am correct, that no one has asked what type of riding you mostly do. Will you be riding mostly two up, long distances, with lots of luggage? Or most often by yourself, shorter trips, not too much luggage? I think having to change the set up all the time, is something not many people actually do. Hence selecting the bike with the comfort and capability most suited to your riding is key. And I do like the paint better on the SESG. There you go.

Ride safely,
Louis

Let us know what you actually bought!

I went with the SESG!
« Reply #29 on: July 27, 2009, 07:28:38 PM »

First, thank you all. Again and again you show why this is the best board online. The members of this board really know their stuff.

I went with the SE Street Glide. I have lived this long (20 years on HDs alone) without a tour-pak or lowers for my 1-2 long distance rides a year. Right now, the factory website doesn't show lowers or a tour-pak in CVO colors, but I bet they show up later.

I'll be getting a Spiced Rum SESG and adding a Hawg Wired system (thanks for all the great advice from another post), adding a Zumo 660, a detachable rack and some other odds and ends and going riding. While I love the paint on the new CVO Ultra's, they really are different bikes from the FLHXSEs...

I will really miss my '02 SERK, but there's only so much money and so much room in the garage.

If any of you are ever in Colorado and need a tour guide or any info at all, just let me know.

Oh to have a bigger garage and more money (sigh).
