Just thinking about some options...
« on: July 31, 2009, 08:22:16 AM »

I like the eagle head, especially in Gold and wish all SE bikes bore an eagle...

now my dilema...based on my history, I am due for a 2010 SE (had a 2004, 2006 and have a 2008)...if there was a 2010 SERG, that would have been easy....but alas, no SERG.  OK, the SED is my 100th Anniversary Bike and doesn't count in the equation since I don't intend to ever part with it!

I will be keeping the 2008 CUSE for several more years (especially with a painted to match trailer)...but I don't want to put excessive miles on it....yes again, I have the Deuce but that is a bar-hopper for the two of us and "We" will never overnight on it though I have in the past when solo.

So Anne is supporting the idea of a third bike, a "Weekender"...probably to distract me from getting her a trike and off the back seat....she still is not sold on that idea.  So, after thinking about it, I came up with three options:

A 2010 SESG
A 2010 FLTRX
A 2009 SERG

Right away, Anne dismissed the SERG since it is not a 2010...but I would still consider it since they are beauties!  The Road Glide custom, well is not a SE bike but the 11K difference would sure buy me a lot of upgrades including engine and paint.  The SESG, I like it a lot....only wish they painted the frame to match...

Please vote in the poll and let me know your thoughts.

/Bill

Is it just me, or does it seem that the  Screamin Eagle head logo has changed somewhat?

Bill;

You're a pretty big guy. Do you want to step back to a 96" in the RG? I'm just digging the hell outta my SERG. Added a tour pak and lowers will go on this fall. I've no opinion on the SG yet but FWIW I still have my '05 SEEG and still dig the hell out of it too. Decisions, decisions - good luck.

the SED is only a 95...BUT, I was thinking a different number (with the $11K difference)...maybe 113 if possible...

Hey Bill......following your line of thinking it's SESG, hands down.  I think all three colors will be very nice in person, but I agree that the initial reaction is the spiced rum in that bike.  :2vrolijk_21: spyder

Interesting poll, Bill.  I had the option, yesterday, of keeping or flipping the Spiced Rum SG.  Without stepping on any toes or offending anyone who is in love with the color, mine went down the road.  :nervous:  I'm going a little different route  with the '10 RX in black with the ABS option.  My painter can work with the HD black as a base coat, candy apple burgundy on the ghost flames and blacked out exhaust system.  As far as the engine build, a tried and true 103 based upon the same build components I had on my SEEG.  Anxious to hear what you decide.

Good to hear real world experience...I am in no rush and have plenty of time to kick the tires...anything in particular about the SESG  affect your decision.

Bill, I voted for the SESG only because it does have some advantages over the '09 SERG and you have this every other year thing going on in the background.  :2vrolijk_21:

I just did somewhat the same thing, but I went from an '08 SERK Annie to an '09 SERG O/B.  Between the '08 and '09 touring chassis, there is way more than enough to justify the move for me.  Well really though, can ANY of us justify these as a practical purchase, I don't think so.  So it boils down to what you want.

On the '10 from what I've read, there are some additional upgrades to the touring line over the '09s.  I read the new poop last night but can't remember much of it today.  I think this is the grey hair syndrome, or selective Alzheimer's, not sure which.  :(  :(  :(

I stayed with the '09 SERG because it is a SERG and I love the looks of the front end of them.  The SERG and SESG are mainly only separated in looks by the fairing in my opinion.  The arse end of the SESG is basically what I have on the '09 SERG.  You'll have a bit more storage via the new all in one injection molded 'deep' saddlebags.

Good luck with your new SESG Spice Rum.  :bananarock:  :orange:  :2vrolijk_21:

Color of the Spiced Rum particularly and to a lesser degree the other colors available.  The blue just doesn't work like the striking blue of the '04's and the "Denim", well, if I wanted to ride a bike that looked like it was in the primer, I'd just paint one that way and save the price of a "factory custom".

You ask a tall question from someone with a "barhopper" himself. I will stick with my vote for the roadglide. Would like to see the silver/titanium as the choice.

Interesting poll Bill.  Based on what you already have and are keeping, I'm going with the SESG in spiced rum, also. :2vrolijk_21:
