Who's bracket did you use for relocating the license plate below the tail light? I currently have an HD layback license plate frame I was planning to use but I like your placement better. Which bag did the amp go into and did you ask to have the amp placed at the front of the bag or did the dealer decide to place it there versus along the inside wall of the bag?

It's a Kuryakyn curved license plate and turn signal bar.  I discussed the options for relocating the amp with the tech at the dealership and though that was the best.  Other options were; eliminating it, replacing it with a smaller amp and relocating it undr the fairing, or mounting it between the saddlebag and the fender.
The Kury curved plate frame fits on the CVO turn signal bar, just remove bar and bot on.

You should consider using fairing mounted amp i.e. Hawg Wired rather than saddlebag option, more money to go this route but you're not cutting hole in saddle bag or losing space and huge difference in sound quality.
Plenty of info on installation here, HD Dude site member, is dealer and very helpful should you need assistance.

Can you point me to a thread on the subject of using an amp in the fairing instead of relocating the amp to the bag?

I just finished doing my 09 it was a lot easier than the 08, quick release docking points on the 09 much simpler install. Plenty of reading here, let me know if you have any questions.

Does the rear amp power just the rear speakers or all four speakers? If it powers just the rear speakers, why can't it just remain with the detached tourpak and reattach when the TP is connected up?

It powers all 4.

you can go this way and use the built in amp when tourpack is detached. But it's quite a mess with the giant harness they applied only for it and the H-K-amp is not much worth anyway. In addition you will have to find a way to reinstall the amp under the detachable rack.

I got rid of the H-K amp and go with the built in - don't really miss anything. Will reconsider the amp-question when I found a good way to go 100% bluetooth and then will have to mess around again with the radio anyway.

You can remove the rear amp and all four speakers will continue to work, just like standard Ultra.
I put in the Hawg Wired with two new speakers in the lowers, when toupack is off I have four speakers in front 4ohms, then with the tour pack on i have 6 speakers, the rears are 2ohms and powered directly by the HK amp on the head unit. Sounds great but I think I'm going to change out the rear speakers to an aftermarket for a little better quality.

OK, I get that the rear amp provides additional power to all four speakers. But why does it have to be relocated to the saddlebag. If the Hawg Wired amp can be installed in the fairing why can't the HK amp be relocated there as well?

I'm actually pretty satisfied with the sound system and really don't have an interest in adding speakers to the lowers. If I wanted to just retain the HK amp while installing the detach kit for the TP, is there some reason why the stock HK amp can't be relocated to the fairing?

Yes, won't fit, otherwise they would have put it there in the first place.

So how is it that a measly 40 watt HK amp takes up more space than the Hawg Wired 300 watt amp?
