Sat and figured out that this was my 15th, or so, trip to Sturgis. Some were many years ago and I don't remember too much about them. What I do remember is that I rode from Chicago with NO windshiled, NO rainsuit. bike leaked oil, hard to start, and was a piece of cloth somewhere being used to slow the oil leak. AND, I loved it.
Today it's different, slightly. I still blow a little oil, but after that it's all convenience.
the Commonality is that you butt has to sit in the saddle and ride.
Sturgis is many things to many people. to me, it's the Granddaddy of all rallies, not just a destination. it's a commitement of physical, mental and spiritual fortitude.
everyone waves on the way in, except the trailer p#**$%s- more on that later. no one waves on the way out, to tired I think. the ability to see some of Our Countries most breath taking site is awesome. Many say "we're going to Sturgis". but, if you're like me, a ten day trip gives 1 day in Sturgis.
back to the trailer stuff, Looks like I'll be taking one next year, not because I'm not riding, but, I will be taking a show bike along with and having a chase vehicle comes in handy, don't need to pack as heavy and in case of break downs, piece of cake.
every time I come home, the only thing I can think of is,,,,,next year.
