I wouldn't even consider doing a 110 with HD's kit.  It has all the junk pieces they used to build the factory engine - and I have one so am not just going on what I've heard.

Thats exactly what I was asking thanks!

Spoke to the shop today (great guys by the way) and if I want to get the 24 month factory warrantee I need to use the kit "as-is" no swapping cranks, bushing, etc. And the bike needs to qualify as "street legal". So I've decided on the 110" kit for now, I'll keep people posted if I run into problems or not.

Why not just bag the stock engine and throw in a big S&S or Jim's?  If you're gonna do it, why mess around? Go for the gusto!

mainly because I want the bike fully covered as I have the extended warrantee. Whatever power gain i get will be plenty and I'll have a cvo engine which is good enough for this new rider.

Greg,

Good luck with your build. Although the 110" problems associated with the '07-'08 model years seem to have been resolved for the most part, your decision to stick with the warranty option may still prove to be a prudent course of action.

Of course I voided my warranty the day I took delivery of my '09 SERG and rebuilt the motor to my specifications. It's a disease! :2vrolijk_21:

There's no S&S or any other crate motor options for the '06 Dyna, and all '07 BT's and up, EXCEPT for Jims motors! Either build one, or Jims! And FTJ!!! ;)

After the latest so called "Fix" both the base gasket and the head gasket blew again less than 1000 miles. I bit the bullet and went with Jim's 131 and so far am quite happy the perfect motor for a bagger. Even after extensive work on the 110 this motor is far superior. Good luck with yours whatever you do.

The dealer assured me that all the "fixes" were part of the latest build and that the 110 Engine no longer had as many issues as it did back in 2007 and since he will be the dealer to fix any possible problems I don't think its in his best interest to mislead me. He has done dozens of these kits already and none have come back with problems, however they have seen some of the older CVO come in for repair/fixes.

Thanks,

Greg

You better verify on that warrenty. My dealer would not cover a 96 to 110 conversion under extended warrenty, but would cover the stage II 103 if done at delivery and said all dealers would have to honor the warrenty. The 103 with 255 cams is plenty of pull for a bagger, if you want fast I'll sell you my Deuce...  :2vrolijk_21:

Back before the "fixes" Willy G. said, "What problems?" when asked about the 110 engine.  Hmmm, a dealer who wants to sell you an engine kit and installation says there are no concerns?    I am not surprised.   It's your money and bike, but unlike three years ago, you can't say nobody told you.

Yep, I've been warned. The CVO 110" engine is a piece of junk and only works properly with a new crank and timken bushing. I should expect to have the engine leak and have general build quality "issues" from day one and I'll be lucky if it survives 1000 miles. Maybe in the four years I have full coverage the shop will be able to get my engine stabile enough so I can at least use it on the weekends for joy rides around the hood as planned.

Honestly I can't imagine why any of you guys knowingly spent $25K + on a bike with such a problematic engine to being with, I mean I know why I'm doing it, but it seems I wasn't informed and if I only knew what you all know then I would avoid Harley 110" engines like the pledge. SO what about the rest of you with CVO 110" why did you do it?
