I wish I had the time.  My rule is I try to rack up miles every month.  Never missed a month yet - but sometimes it is tough.

Next year I plan a couple of longer trips - may need to get a different seat from the standard seat but don't want to lose the unique feature that it is.

Has anyone ever modified the "stock" seat and made it more of a long riding seat.  Perhaps I need to just condition my seat to take a longer ride.  After 100 miles, I'm pretty numb and need a break - not all bad by the way.

longer ride is a relative term i took a trip to old quebec city this summer and we averaged 300 miles a day and typically stopped between 75-100 miles and took a 5 minute break and got back on the road.  i did find me legs getting a bit numb but stretching out to the highway pegs helps. and a nice cold one at the end of the day makes it all better  [smiley=drink.gif]

I've found the stock saddle pretty comfortable, but then again I was riding a deuce with a low profile saddle that would make me sore after about 30 miles.

The thing that I have had problems with is riding with the driver backrest on.  It pushes me too far forward in the saddle, so I just ride without it and it seems to be plenty comfortable that way.

I usually ride 9,000 to 10,000 miles per year....   One 10 day trip, and several long weekends.  Normally ride year round.

I live near Dallas Texas.  It's been mid 60's the last few days.  It still gets cold here sometimes.  I have heated gear for the cold days.

no heated gear but i do have some snow mobile gauntlets on my handlebars for when it gets down in the low 40's upper 30's below that i dont get much riding in due to snow, and sand and road salt dont make for good riding conditions. :'(

I average 17,000 a year but my trips are usually around a week in duration and cover anywhere from 3 - 4000 miles. Riding season for me runs from late April through October so I got to get it while I can !

Been trying to think of the right words to use on this topic.I ride more than everyone I know cept for one old bro who's retired. I don't think I'm any more of a biker than some of my bros who ride no more than 3 or 4K a year. Actually, once you become a long rider, you tend to forget how to enjoy the short hops around town. Seems like I'll be getting settled into the saddle and we'll be stopping. People say ridin's ridin, but there's different types of rides, like there's different types of riders. Ain't no one better than the next, it's just what puts a smile on your face that matters. I try to see it from the other guy's point of view as a rule. Still, less anyone think I'm totally into the Zen thing here, I do have a problem with the folks from La La Land or Dago that trailer their bikes the 320 miles to Laughlin for the River Run. Maybe one of you wise old Global Moderators can explain that concept to me.

Well lets start with that my last bike was a lowered Fatboy with 18" apes.I like to leather ass whenever I can. With that being said I rode the 300 miles to Laconia the past 3 yrs on that bike and trailered to Daytona(1250 miles). But now that I own my 02 SERK I will ride wherever I go,totally differnt ride with gear storage,no more effen bungees all over the place.I'm hoping since coming to this board and seeing Naitram only 90 miles from me that maybe we can set up some rides in New England next year.I would be willing to put a ride together with some help and then we can cruise back to my house for a cookout or whatever. So anyone interested lets discuss over the winter and see what we come up with.

Hey BigDaddy, I'll ride from Dago to Laconia in June if you and Naitram ride back to Dago with me Getting tired of doing 7,000 mile rides by myself. Free room and board here in Dago (well at least till my old lady tosses your sorry asses)

I'm averaging 5k-6k/yr on my  [smiley=pumpkin.gif] I will say that I put more miles on my "scooter" then I put on my cage/year (2000 Yukon w/only 36k on it), so that should be saying something. I also sold my trailer when I purchased my  [smiley=pumpkin.gif] so I do ride it wherever I go. Longest day in the saddle was about 800 miles on way back from Sturgis in 2004. Was trying to make it back to the east coast between two hurricanes and rode from Sparta Wi. to Morehead Ky in one day. Only stopped for fuel, and ate snacks, "relieved" ourselves and was back at it. Made for a really long day, rode from approximately 8-9 AM to 11 PM. Had I know we were this close to an "Iron Butt" certification I probably would have rode further, even though I didn't get the certificate/recognition I sure enough knew I had been in the saddle more then I should have. Can you say "Monkey Butt"?
