To me buy the 2010 cvo ultra and trade both bikes.

Once you own it you won't ride anything else anyway.

I love my 09 USE but I think you run a risk with someones used bike, besides the 10 has a better 5th gear and power outlet in the trunk.
Go with the ??burnt amber/citrus orange?? one, that looks good in the pics.

Owning 1 is cheaper than owning 2.

I agree with this recommendation. Go for the 2010. You'll get the new 5th gear with helical cut (design change after lot's of complaints about the straight cut 5th gear in the '09s that caused alot of "whining" so to speak). You'll also get the new compensator design in the 2010's which is better suited to handle the torque of the 110's.

You can check out all the technical upgrades in the 2010's at this link http://www.4shared.com/file/127843542/c3d36020/2010MY_Tech_Forum.html

AJ

I very much disagree with your statement above.

The 2010 103 may share a similar bore and stroke as our beloved 2003 103", 2004 103", 2005 103" and the 2006 103" but that's it.
The 2010 103 is no where near the motor the older ones are.
Ask ANY motor guy and you will get the same response.
The twin cam changed substantially in 2007 and it wasn't for the better!

What changes occured in 2007 on the 103's? Are you talking head changes or something different?

I never claimed it is a Screamin Eagle 103. It is however the same engine that my father has in the FLHTCUTG. There are vast differences in the SE engine and this one. Many of the "standard" parts "not needed" have been removed to cut costs. No disagreement here.

I do not recall that any special or Screamin Eagle parts were ever in the 110" at all.  Just a different cam and jugs and heads (not the good SE heads either).  No parts that anyone would every knowingly put in a motor that they were building.  No special cam plate, no timken bearing, nothing special at all.

Wait, the leak was special

As I'm not a "knee dragger" in the corners, I don't find that much difference in my '07 SEUC and my '10 SESG as far as handling or firmness is concerned.  Having the new frame is nice, but I don't see that much difference between the two bikes.   :nixweiss:  One big difference that I do like on the SESG over the SEUC is the hydraulic rear shock setup...it dials in nicely and it's pretty much a "set it and forget" setup.  Very nice....

that much I believe right away - I've been watching those shocks very closely since introduction. But will not install them before next year of course. Don't want to be beta-tester  ;D

Thanks, everyone!  I really, really do love the SERK, but definitely want a little more touring capability.  I like the idea of an '09 CVO Ultra, but I've checked with local dealers and no luck.  I'm going to visit my dealer to talk about the Limited anyway, so I may have them do a search for an '09 SEUG as well...   I'll let you know what happens!

Go with the limited.  Better frame, brakes, tires etc.

Will not regret it.

Bet it would be hard to find a 09 SEUC as dealers in my area are marking up the 010's $4,000 and thus helping keep th 09's high.

Ok, looking at this a little closer, a FLHTK will set you back $25K++. A used '09 SEUC is going to run you in the neighborhood of $31K+. So there is a substantial difference in price. With that said, I may have second thoughts and go brand new and get the Limited.

BUT...Since he already has 2 CVO's now, I would have to assume that if he gets the Limited, he's not going to be happy until he adds some dressing to the floorboards, chrome controls, chrome lowers, and who knows what else.  By the time he dresses it up to his standards, the difference between $25K and $31K narrows significantly.  I agree with the person that mentioned the idea of getting rid of both the other CVO's, and going with the SEUC, 09 or 10.  I personally don't see the need for another bike, as the SEUC is great on the highway, and it's manueverable enough for bar hopping as well.  If he wants some versatility, he can make the tourpack removable and change out the seat for the Street Glide look.  Getting rid of both the CVO's will take the strain off financially to do whatever he wants to the SEUC.  If I was going to get a 2nd bike, it would have to be a nice dirt bike.

With all of that said, the Limited is a pretty nice bike and should fill the need well, if that's what he opts for.

260 miles isn't very used though.  I'm sure they will have no problem selling it for that price.  I don't think the Ft Lauderdale dealer is Rossmeyer's.  Pompano Beach is.  I could be wrong, of course.

Anyone have an answer to this earlier question? What changes were made to the 103" in 2007 that supposedly reduced its performance?

No question about it!  Go for the new Ultra Limited.

In my mind this will be the HOT seller this year as it is... "The Best Bang for The Buck!"

I read and re-read your message and the wisdom did make sense.  You can only ride one at a time and you save on insurance, registration, etc.  As it happens, my dealer has a '10 SEUG arriving in two weeks, not promised to anyone.  It is in the Riptide Blue/Titanium Dust scheme.  I took both the arrival date and the color as a positive sign, as both my current bikes are blue (my favorite color) and I picked up both bikes in September (one on the 12th, one on the 13th the following year).  So, we are waiting for some numbers but it looks good for a two-to-one swap.  I'll miss both the Road King and the Springer, but the CVO Ultra has so many bells and whistles....well, I think I will enjoy it either going down the road or just sitting in the driveway.  Thanks to everyone - safe riding!   :2vrolijk_21:
