I had the same combination in my previous Electra SE '04 (true duals and oval from V&H), and also SE air cleaner....but I didn't install any power commander or something else...what would you recommend for my next Electraglide '06 which I should be receiving next week?

Thanks for your wise advise

I'm just fumbling thru this with the rest of the folks.  Sounds like you probably had a Download done by the dealer to the ECM, for the '06 that isn't yet available, might be by the time you get it, might not.  I'm not a patient man, so I just bought the SERT that has the same Download that the dealer can't seem to get ahold of, and put it in myself.  If ya liked the pipes, they'd be a good choice, I like the quality of the V&H stuff.  The SE Air Kit or this new K&N thing (below), just found it today, I'm thinkin bout trying one, like the size of it, might allow for more airflow than the SE or the BS Kit.

Thanks buddy for your advise.....excuse me for my ignorance but SERT is Screaming Eagle Race Tuner? As you I like the quality of V&H...I have had that brand in all my bikes and I like the sound.......So I would go with V&H true duals, Long shots or classic slip-on (i Hven't decided yet) SE air cleaner and SERT? good combination?

Thanks again...what is the difference if the dealer makes the download to the ECM and the SERT? The SERT is just a software, right?

If the dealer does a download it's a one time thing, want it changed to something different, you'll be paying the dealer to do it again, or you'll either have to buy an add on like the Power Commander.  If the download isn't just right for your setup, you'll need to do more..............Buy the SERT and do it as many times as you want to that bike.  The SERT is software, and a direct interface to the ECM, along with some logging abilities that I haven't gotten into yet.  Notice I said it is for that bike though, change to a different bike and you have to buy a new SERT, once it connects to an ECM it's tied to it for good, can't be used on another bike after that.

Thanks again and my aopologies to ask too many questions....I think this is the final: The SERT can be done by myself or do I have to take the bike to the dealer? I am asking you this because I am abale to get the SERT with 20% of discount. The local dealer (I just came from there) mentioned me that they charge around 4 hours doing the SERT......what do you recommend?

4 HOURS????  Buncha thieves.......You install the software on your computer, laptop is best since you can move it close to the bike.  If no laptop you'll need your computer and bike near each other.  On the bike, you remove the brake side saddlebag and side cover, there is a connector right there that the SERT plugs into, plug that in, the tuner module into the other end of that cord, then the cord from the tuner module to your computer (all cords/cables supplied with the SERT).  Start the software and follow the directions that came with the SERT.  They are probably charging you for the pipe and Air Cleaner install also, thats the only way I can see justifying 4 hours.

Just got back from the HD dealership inquiring about pipes/tuner also.

I plan to go with the V&H true duals and ovals,  SERT and SE breather.  When all was said and done the estimate from the dealer to install and do custom map was $2150 + tax  :o
$44 shop supplies ....<did not see that until after I got home.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
$1475 parts,  ( pipes/ovals $876,  tuner $460, SE stage 1 kit $140)
$630 8 hrs labor, (3 hrs install & 5 hrs mapping)

I am thinking about ordering pipes (from the link posted here) and installing pipes myself and save a little $$$.    Anyone have any tips for the pipe/ovals install.   Is it 500 or 1000 miles before this should be done ?     THXS

My dealer said that if you should get another bike (with the CVO Ultra I can't imagine why I would!) and it had the same p/n ecm on both bikes then you could swap the ecm's as a way to keep your SERT.  What do ya' think?  Would it work?

Hazer,

You can get the pipes from Eastern Performance (probably the link you talked about) and the rest of the stuff from https://www.zanottimotor.com/shopping/partLookUp.html and save a bunch.  My dealer matched Zanotti's price on the SERT so I picked it up there, and my son got me a gift certificate for the HD place down the road so I picked the SE Air Kit up there.  Nothing really hard about putting any of it on, pipe install is the hardest, and getting the old off is the worst part of that.  Just follow the directions with the V&H True Duals and all will turn out well, be sure to put the clamps on exactly how they say, works out better that way.  I just don't see payin a dealer to do fairly simple tasks, when I could be spending the time getting intimate with her myself.

Yeah it would work, for the SERT, but I'm wondering if there is more you'd need to change.

I forgot to tel you that the 4 hours were only for download the SERT.......thieves, right? In my previous SE I installed the pipes and the SE air cleaner myself.......I will do the same this time.....I am thinking to use th true duals from V&H and the SE pipes 65115-99B (the same model the file that you got when you made the CERT) but I am afraid that they will be so quiet, I like medium loudly as the V&H oval level of noise....BTW do you know how they sound or if the baffles are removable?

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to wait, not sure you'd "need" to though, some folks do it before taking delivery.
