I had to move that post to the Transmission section. I am getting a very loud griding noise in 5th gear, tried the Redline Shockproof oil , still there.

 I traded my 09 street glide for the 2010 CVO convertible and glad I did.  The glide was a little tall for me even though it is lowered. I am 6' tall but with a 31.5 inseam. Never felt sure footed even after changing the seat. The glide also had bad wind buffeting that would give me killer headaches and red eyes after long rides at highway speeds, even though I tried 5 windshields. The only one that worked was the full size one but don't want to look though it.
Riding the convertible reminds me of riding my chopper again. Feel like i,m in the bike and very sure footed. Added engine guard, pegs and the king low windshield. No more buffeting. It is just as comfortable as the glide with maybe being a little harder on big bumps in the road.

Nothing bothers me when I'm riding except the cages in my way.   By the way my go to bike is the SERG, nothing is as much fun to ride as that.  I mean nothing.

I always thought the Ultra or a former police bike was what I wanted.  I have been driving Goldwings and Venture Royals so I liked Fairings.

Then I did the sin of asking a good friend of mine to borrow his Ultra Classic for a test ride.  the bike was wonderful and did everything right.  but

The Bat wing made me feel like I was sitting over the front wheel... now I am sure that if I rode if for more than 50 miles I would have gotten use it it.  but it turned me off.  So I started looking at the Road Glide... which is very rare up here in Canada - Ottawa to be specific, everyone drives ultras, or electra glides or street glides.

Found a used RD at a local dealer and they let me take it out for a ride... ummm everything just seemed right.  Steering was light, unlike the ultra, the full fairing and windshield gave me the protection I wanted and yes cruise and a radio was nice.  That was it I would have to get a Road Glide,,, which I did.  

now all my friends love the look of my bike but they complain that they dont like the fact that the fairing does not move and the bike feels long.

So it really comes down to ride what fits you... lucky for us  HD comes in many different configurations so that everyone can ride one.

To the question expressed in the thread:  Not Me.    Got two of them and love 'em.  I've had fixed fairing bikes and batwing, and I'll stick to the batwing.

I used to ride with no windshield at all, loved the feeling of the air and warm breezes plus I thought the bike looked cooler too.  The in 1998 bought my first Ultra, wow what a difference over my 1995 RK.  Ignition went out during a ride to the Keys in downtown Key West, had to rent a truck and haul the bike to FT Myers to get it fixed.  Part was on backorder so they gave me a new RK for $50.00 a day as it was a recall issue.  Even with leaving the windshield on the RK I could not stand the extra air.  Could not wait to get my ultra back even though it had a short windshield, I love the way the Bat Wing cuts the air to move around the driver.

For me it is Bat wings forever.
