i did on my 03 Classic.  I really like the handlebar mounted mirrors alot more.  I see better behind me with those.  I wouldn't do that again.

I like the look but I was wounding if you lose side visibilty. I didn't want to put the work in to it, and also put  holes in the painted inner fairing and not be satisfied with the results.

I used to have a StreetGlide. I replaced my inner fairing to one without holes to get rid of the fairing mirrors. I like them on the bars much better.

I converted mine to fairing mount last summer. When i first did it, i was regretting it. The fairing mirrors takes a little while to get used to but once you do you'll realize you have about the same rear viewing as you did with bar mounted, you just have to work a little more. IMO the fairing mounts look a lot better then bar mounted they clean up the handle bar area and look as they are a natural part of the fairing.  I painted mine to match the inner fairing; so they look real sharp. Some people cant stand them, my wife will have nothing to do with them, she complains she cant see anything, their useless. I told her she was just lazy.. Then I didn't get any for a week.   :whip:

Sporty what do you mean you have to work more? ::) is that your always having to look over your shoulder? To make matters worse I'm also thinking of changing to bars to wild 1 575's like I had on my 06. I think that may block those mirror. Sh&* I just don't know :-\

I agree for the most part.  The older style Street Glide mirrors were in to close.  Now they're out further.  They definatly look better and clean the bars up. :2vrolijk_21:

I haven't had a problem on Terrie's 09 Street Glide or my 10 SESG with seeing and I'm 6'3" (the Dr. told me I'm shrinking......I think that means I'm gettin old).  However, I am going to change the mirrors on my SESG to bar mounted not because I can't see, but because I want to go with different bars and they'll be in the way of the fairing mounted mirrors.  Other than that, I'd certainly keep the look of the SG fairing mounted mirror. :2vrolijk_21:

Straight from the catalog......

Touring Pull Back Handlebar

These high quality, polished stainless steel handlebars are designed to bring the controls two inches closer to the rider for increased comfort. Especially helpful for shorter riders or those with short arms.
This product is available in multiple variations. Be sure to look for the one that fits the specific model and year of your motorcycle.

 56176-08

Fits '08-later Electra GlideĀ® and Street GlideĀ® models. Does not fit Trike models. All models require separate purchase of additional components. FLHX and models with fairing mount mirrors require separate purchase of handlebar-mounted mirrors and Fairing Plugs P/N 732 (qty 2) and 735 (qty 2). Does not fit sidecar-equipped models.

MSRP US $149.95

Handle bar mounted mirrors are not always required with these bars.  Terrie has the same bars on her 09 Street Glide, we just lowered them below the mirrors.  I like the way they feel when I'm sitting on her bike and I can really lean back and still have a little bend at the elbows however, my knees get in the way when I turn.  So for my bike, they'll be up higher, requiring me to go with handle bar mounted mirrors and......they're going to the chrome shop first.  Ya know the MoCo only does things half way. :nixweiss:  These bars are 2" up and 2" back from the stock Electra Glide bars.

Never liked them on my SG they vibrated too much, now I can actually see behind me.  The difference is night and day, for me anyway.  At one point I almost added the bar mounts and was going to leave the fairing mirrors on also.  Seemed I had a bigger blind spot with the fairing mounts..........

I have the WO575 Chubby's and fairing mirrors. I can see a little with my hands on the grips but to get a good rear view look I have to remove my hand from the grip. FYI You'll love the bars. Look in Wild 1's customer gallery and my bike is lasted as Big John's Ultra. If you go to the Chubby's I would suggest keeping your mirrors on the bars.

Trey,

The extra effort is not a matter of having to look over your shoulders. The fairing mounts require you to put a little more effort shifting your body into appropriate (different) positions to get a good look in the rear view mirrors. This is due to the position of the mirrors on the fairing in relation to your seating angle on the seat. The bar mount mirrors allow a more direct line of site from your riding position to the mirror, so you have direct line of site to when viewing the rear mirrors. When i first installed my faring mount mirrors i didn't like them because i was constantly changing my body to different positions to get a good look in the mirrors, but after a little while i got used to it and is not longer a issue for me. In fact i now prefer the fairing mount to the bar mount. I think most people that have the faring mounts will say they hated them but got used them and now like them..  :nixweiss: Just be aware, if you change over to the fairing mount, your going to be stuck with them, unless you want to shell out a few more hundred bucks to deal with the unsightly holes you have to drill into your inner fairing to mount them.
