Hinged Seat for CVO FXR's!

Well I got P/N 52020-82 Bracket and Pin Assembly, and P/N 52355-82 Seat Latch Assembly. Now WTF do I do with them? How do I modify my seat to accept this? It's a plastic seat pan and doesn't have tappings for the hardware. Anyone modify their CVO FXR to accept the hinged seat setup on a STOCK CVO FXR seat? I hope it'll work on my BLUE3! :nixweiss:

I don't think it will work with the FXR3 seat and even if you forced it to fit the seat wouldn't lift up because of the sissy bar.
If you want to use it buy an older 2 piece FXR seat or a solo Lepera or corbin or remove the sissy bar.

Hi,
 I have 2000 FXR4. It did not have a stock seat. I previously had 89 FXRS that I loved. It had hinged seat. I bought a Mustang two peice seat and it works fine. Everything is in place on the frame but the seat mus tbe made for the two peice flip seat to gain easy access to the oil tank and battery.

Thanks ltank! I gathered this was the case. But I really like the FXR3 stock seat so I guess I won't be using the new hinge hardware, unless I can adapt it somehow. I can't see changing the seat at this point. ;)

I found a LePera seat that I use on my FXR4. It is a one piece similar in profile to a badlander.
The hinge works fine on the one piece/ to open fully I move it on the hinge while opening to clear sissy bar

Hmmm....that's a seat I might have interest in. Do you have a model and know if they still make it?
I also think my stock seat will clear with the hinge and no seat tab in the back. I have to figure out how to secure it to a plastic seatpan though. :-\

I bought that lepera at a swap meet. After I bought it I looked at LePera's website to see if I could match what I bought. It looks like there 'silhouette' model with flames stitched in the rear. They still offer numerous choices; as they have a separate section for FXR. Drag Specialties stock LePera also.

Thanks for the pic Phil. I saw that seat on that guy's site you gave the link for. Not the look I want on Joy though. If I can't modify mine to accommodate the hinge hardware, I'll maybe try to get an original '87 or so 2-piece HD SuperGlide seat, or something like that for her. ;)

I'm working with Elvis on an old style HD 2-pc seat they have. If I get it, I'll post the pics. Otherwise, I have my eye on one of these 1 piece LePera seats that uses the hinge hardware. Anyone ever use this seat? Thanks. ;)

My choice seems to be getting a new LePera seat as shown in the previous post, or a LePera Maverick (shown below-a lil pricey). Or try to make a deal with Elvis for an older HD 2-piece seat (shown in the next post). Hmmm.....what to do? :-\ :nixweiss:

Elvis' used seat that's available at around the same price as a new LePers Daytona. It comes with the passenger seat and backrest with sideplates (which I don't necessarily need). The backrest pad would be nice so it matches the seat however. ;)

Another wrench in the works! Just spoke to LePera. There are fitment issues with these seats on a CVO FXR for some reason. They suggested buying the seat, then having them ship the seat pan and check the fit before finalizing the order, and pay to ship the pan back and forth. F that! I guess there's no LePera in my future! And I'm still not convinced that spending about $350 w/shipping, on that used seat setup from Elvis, is the way to go either. DAMN! I think I'll be keeping the stock one for Joy! :wall: :wall: :wall:

The fitment issue he mentions may have something to do with the front seat bracket on the FXR4's. You will need to take the bracket off/ the seat will then sit properly. I had to do this with my FXR4 to make the LePera fit.
Not a big deal; two bolts to remove/ take bracket off and install bolts again.
