There's no avatar of a little guy extending a twig of peace.  No hard feelings I hope.

Not at all. Thanks for the offer. I guess we're just trying to learn from one another. I know I've been frustrated sharing what I think is a simple solution that others find complex so I know where your coming from.

In the end I'm understanding the software more with each use. There's no written guide with the software however I did get the training disk. I've been through every module (more than once in many cases). I'm somewhat experienced as I've had the old race tuner since 2003 and did a fair amount of tweaking over the years.

I've already "saved" over 50 SuperTuner runs for use with smarttune as I've made many adjustments over those runs. And yet the training provides no guidance as to the fact that the 2010 maps have no Closed Loop Bias. There's no instruction or guidance on the new fuel type settings for 2010.

Essentially the only way a new user is going to find out how these functions in the software work is by trial and error OR from other guys like those on this thread.

To be honest I feel relatively comfortable with most adjustments in the SuperTuner with a few exceptions:

* The fuel type settings until I was set straight here.
* Lambda adjustments so I've generally made my changes in AFR and let the software convert for Lambda.
* The lack of Closed Loop Bias which wasn't written anywhere and I only figured out through this thread.

*And lastly, my biggest challenge is making adjustments to the spark tables. VE adjustments have been made relatively simple with SmartTune, but spark adjustments are a whole different matter. I know to check my smarttune runs with the knock disabled to see if I have any knock. If there's more than 3-4degrees, I know to move the spark in that area back 2 degrees and see if that eliminates the knock.

What I am clueless about is how to make adjustments to front and rear spark tables to improve performance across the rpms when there's no knock visible in the data.

If anyone has a recommendations on how best to make adjustments to timing, I'm all ears/eyes.

I manually chose several 2009 maps to attempt to flash to my 2010 SEUC. I could open any file and making any tuning modifications I wanted. However when I went to flash the map to the bike by opening the "flash bike" screen, the "Run Program" button was deactivated (grayed out). There was a message above the button that stated the map was not compatible with my bike's ecu. There was no way to proceed further with this non-compatible map. I suppose this is a good safety feature for tuning.

The only ecu maps of all the one's included with the SuperTuner that did not create this "non-compatible" message with my 2010 SEUC were those maps that started with 009.

BTW, when you first choose to flash a map, the SuperTuner brings up all the maps that are compatible with your bike that came with the SuperTuner. You can manually chose other maps however they had to have been created from a compatible base map that originally came with the SuperTuner in order to flash them to the bike. Maps that were not compatible from the start can never be made compatible regardless of the changes you make to the map. I know because I tried.

You can try this yourself by opening a map other than an 009 or 205 map for your 2009 bike. I'd be interested to hear whether you get the same "not compatible" message when you proceed to open the flash bike screen with this non-compatible map.

Hey,
I've been running both the 205 and 009 maps on my 09 CVO without a problem.. I can't make my mind up which is best.

Thinking about the whole 009 for 2010 and 205 for 2009 models argument I noticed with the latest super tuner update mine updated itself to there are 009 calibrations for 2009 models
Version 3.002.0003 Software is a 2010 Model Year update which includes two.. here is a copy from the help file:

HD has released some Lvl 009 files to be used in the 2009 bikes. If you look at the files it will tell you for what year model they are intended for. Do they work right for both years I do not know at this time. What I can tell you is that the 2009 bike uses different parts, in different locations that will cause the calibrations to be different. So if they have made them just for a 2009 model and made all the necessary changes for the components it will not be the proper calibration to be used on a 2010 bike just the same as the 2010 developed calibration will not be correct for the 2009.

It would seem to me to get the proper tune you would start with the cal. closest to YOUR bikes year, model and setup, then do some dyno runs, and/or the V-tune process to accurately get the proper tune for YOUR bike.
Would this be a fair statement?

The problem goes a little deeper when you talk about switching sensors to a different style and then locating them in a different location. The output from one sensor to the other is not the same and that may cause many issues that a simple tuneup will not solve properly. Until I dig into it deeper I will not have a good/right answer.

Sorry - i'm busy with life and whenever I try to offer actual sage advice, people who really don't understand but profess to understand are on here flaming.  So with that, I'm sorry you don't get it and I think it's about time I even stopped bothering to try.

At least you didn't wait another 3 months to share this bucket load of....er....wisdom!
