First of all the backrest on the SE is not even worth having. Let me start by saying it is terribly uncomfortable and not adjustable. It is spring loaded to allow the passenger to push it forward when mounting or dismounting the bike, however it sits so close to the seat surface that is does not fold forward. The support bracket under the seat is too far back for a rider of my size (5' 8") to comfortably use highway pegs. The ADJUSTABLE bracket DOES NOT ADJUST. Let me save you the trouble friends. I took it all apart and tried every configuration. Due to the construction of our stock seats (with heaters and all) there is one, and only one, position the moutnting bracket can sit in. Also, of the 3 or 4 height options, or holes the backrest can click into, only the top hole is usable due to the thickness of the seat. The only option is use a different backrest or modify the stock one. I tired the stock backrest from a friend's 05 Ultra and it was a bit better. It sat up higher, was more vertical (which means less of the top edge of the damn thing digging into my back) and far more padding. So now...what to do? The backrest has to match, so, I either extend the arms on the stocker or just a have a bigger and better one made. Then I have to find someone to match the leather. You would think for as much as these bikes cost, all the parts would function. If you are going to use a non-stock seat.....MAKE A NON-STOCK @#&^!( BACKREST BRACKET!
