I've had great success with this model Craftsman as well....

problem with that jack is the cross member in the front part of the jack hit/rest on the sidestand on the bike. I've had my bike up on one of those, and didn't care for it .... but I do like that jack.
I have the red sears one, I know a lot of guys don't, but I've not had a problem with mine.
All I do is put the jack on the right side of the bike, align it up so that the left jack member is just behind the sidestand, sit on the bike, stand the bike up, use my foot and drag the jack the rest of the way under the bike. I can reach the jack pedle with my foot, I give it a couple of jacks to get it tight under the bike, get off the bike, check the postion of the jack, make sure it it under both frame side rails, jack it up, apply the tie downs, no problems.
I know some say the bike is not stable on this jack, mine seems fine to me. Once the tiedowns are on, I've moved the bike around in the shop, no problems ...NOT jacked all the way up, but certainly up off the ground and fully on the jack.
