When the bracket is in place you can not see them.

It is my understanding that once you have been "officially" notified of the safety recall some of the responsibility falls on you if the the repaires are not done. So if you are worried about looks this should not be an issue. Like I said it only took about 30 mins for them to complete the repaires.

Had the dealer print out Service Bulletin M-1264 and will scan and make into a PDF and post in a few minutes.

Picture shows the completed recall and it is chromed!

Looks better than I thought it would. Just wondering how it does what they claim since it looks like it surrounds the original mounting ear on the tank.

Looks like they used the same parts as on my Springer.

it appears that the parts are different for different models. On my RoadGlide it is just a longer spacer that takes the place of the original. It just adds to the stress area. Instead of being round it is now longer but it is all behind the gas tank.

Recall notice from HD
« Reply #103 on: December 15, 2009, 08:03:13 PM »

Anyone seen this?

Problem: Harley-Davidson is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 touring family motorcycles, including CVO touring and trike products, manufactured from June 6, 2008 through November 19, 2009. The front fuel tank mounts may distort in reaction to severe frame damage from a frontal collision. This condition may cause a fuel leak at the weld of the front bracket to the tunnel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire, which could lead to injury or death to the rider.

Corrective Action: Dealers will install a left and right brace, which are intended to reduce front mount distortion during certain crash conditions. This repair will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or about December 14, 2009. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson at 1-414-343-4056.
