Hey Mark, tried the plastic film under the Corbin rubber feet, they just ate holes right thru that plastic.  Not sure I'd bother if I were you.  No perfect way that I've ever seen to protect the paint on the back fender from a 'on and off again' seat.  Some things work for awhile, but eventually all will leave marks in the paint.   :'(  spyder

MJZ,
Mark, I was down to the dealer today to grab a few items, was talking to a few of the mechanics and we got to talking about the seat and other things. I mentioned about the protective film that's on the fender, I had no idea that it's [highlight]removable and replaceable[/highlight]just throw a little heat at it from a hairdryer yank it off, place it on something like a window or whatever and when you want to put your pillion back on just put the film back. No muss or fuss. It's designed not to pull your paint off. Hell I thought sticky mess, then have to get another one when needed. That is so cool, Yank it off polish up that area done deal. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
I did notice that the rubber pads do end up marking the fender, but looks like at little polishing will remove it.
I think I'll get another of the films to put on the fender where the pads hit, so next time I'll be yanking off three.
Mark
mark, thanks for the information about the plastic. I did not know that and mine came from H-D with a rubbed spot on it, does not go all the way through to paint and I never noticed it until I put the solo seat on. That is great news it is nothing to remove / replace it.

Thanks

Van;
There should be a notch in you seat pan to clear the guards. There was a thread about this a while back.

You know I did not notice that before. It went on fine and took no adjusting to the seat lock, which surprised me.  I'll check when I get home. Thanks

Oh chit, better not stop and have a beer  [smiley=drink.gif] on the way home tonight. Looks like I'll be doing a little work on the seat. Without a beer, I'd use a dremel; with a few beers, I'd start up the chainsaw.  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Jim, Van, no problem.  Will find them and get them back up.  Van, opening up one of these seats really isn't a big deal.  I'll PM you the phone number if you want to chat about ripping open that new fancy seat.

MJZ,
Just picked up on that seat height problem. I was wondering that myself when looking at you pics, but figured it was cause the pillion wasnt in place. I'm curious as to what is holding it off the fender if not the rubbers than the pan must be sitting on top of something.

The problem you are all seeing is JC's fault.

I have been trying to remember all afternoon but I seem to remember they included spacers with my seat and were in the box with an explanation that I seem to remember addressed this problem. I think I used them but it is kind of foggy. I realize that was only a couple of weeks ago but you have to remember, I lived thru the 60's and only have about 100 brain cells left. Staying awake and breathing take about 99 of them. I will check when I get home tonight, I kept the original box and instructions just in case I screwed something up and had to send back to Corbin to fix. Can you tell that is a regular concern of mine, well justified given my history. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
At least I am better than my neighbor, when I got the driving Motolights last week he came over to check them out and suggested to mount them on the back, Said "those will make great back-up lights plus when some a$$ will not dim their brights behind you, you can blow them away". Hey I thought about it too!
