How many Canadian CVO members ???
« on: December 05, 2009, 01:25:36 PM »

Hello fellow CVO owners, my name is Marty and I am a Canadian member of the site.  I live in Port Colborne, it's a small bedroom community on the north shore of Lake Erie with a population of about 17,500, situated at the mouth of the Welland Canal system. The Welland Canal gives passage to lake and ocean going freighter ships between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, bypassing Niagara Falls.

As most of us Canadians (and northern U S friends) my riding season has been put on hold until the snow stops flying in March or April.  This leaves way too much time to sit at the computer, and as I sit here today I am wondering " How many CVO members are from Canada" and where your from, and about your town, etc..  So I thought I would start this thread as a point of interest and to explore a possible "Canadian Site" for a CVO GTG.  I will be attending the MV10 ( Maggie Valley N C GTG in Sept. 2010) and hope to get a feel for what it takes to organize this type of event so that in the future we might host one in the Great White North ( but in the summer when its hot ).

So if you have the time say hello and tell us a bit about yourself.

Thanks

Martys

Their are actually quite a few of us from almost of all of the provinces. I am from Calgary, presently do not have a CVO (Boo), last one was an 04 SEEG traded it in on a 2010 ULTRA Limited. My season has not been cut short by the wonderful winter weather we are presently having in Calgary, as like a lot of others my bike is in Phoenix and I will be going down to ride Dec. 17th returning Dec. 24th and then going back off and on till the CVO get together in Pala, when I'll drive from Phoenix over and then head north.

Some of the other Canadians will probably chime in as soon as they finish shoveling from underneath all of the snow we have been getting.

Living out here on the wet coast-Vancouver BC (home of the 2010 Winter Olympics)  Clear today but couldn't ride as the Freightliner had to go for updating, maybe tomorrow though.

Hi All,

I am in Ottawa, went for a short ride today, a balmy 1 degree Celsius froze my a** off but it was worth it to ride on Dec 6th.

A Canadian GTG would be a great idea.

I live in Cochrane, AB - less than an hour from the Banff National Park Gate.

There are quite a few CVO's in the Calgary area and I'm surprised to see the the number of SERG's. Most are the slower O/B models !! That out to create a stir !!!

We get warm "chinook" winds here, so I might get in a couple days riding over the winter if the weather cooperates.

Mine goes to my painter tomorrow for a custom touch!

Planning on going to Daytona Bike Week but haven't finalized my travel plans yet. May ship to Phoenix and ride across the southern staes but I hear you can run into some nasty weather.

Martys, I was born and raised in Winnipeg in 1952. My family relocated to So Cal in 1963, made a brief stint  to Vancouver from Aug 68 thru May 69 (rapidly learned that we didn't like cold weather and rain any more) and resettled in Simi Valley CA.I have been riding the local canyon and desert roads since I got my first bike (1967 yamaha 350), and also made a couple of rides to Nebraska and Wyoming. ( it is nice to get away from the traffic around here). I really feel for you weather wise. (You know I know because of how cold it gets in Winnipeg ) Now I have an 09SEUC, silver, and a 1995 Heritage with an S&S107 which is in the shop again because S&S can't seem to manufacture any cylinders that stay round. Thankfully it is still under warranty until March of 2010. Sorry to ramble on, but I think you would be surprised at how many Canadians you would find on this site. Ride Safe CAHDBIKER
P.S. I did get my United States Citizenship a couple of years a go and it feels good.

Rob

Rob,

We had one in Nelson BC, two years ago. We had the usual suspects from Canada and the US.

Right now in Calgary it is -29 deg. C.
