Maybe we need a different thread to address the carry issue if so maybe the mod will let us know. YesItsLoaded I have to agree on the can of worms you mentioned but we  have to start somewhere the Oklahoma folks that have a CC permit are supposedly well trained I have my doubts that well trained can occur in a class that is supposed to last hours but most are over in about  6-6.5 hours this includes the mandatory range time (3, 5, 12 yards - 50 rounds no requirement to get into kill zone just get 50 rounds downrange without hitting anyone else) Sorta like a safe gun handling course but is a lot different than an emergency situation. So I have to agree that it needs a close look or some pretty strict qualifying rules. I grew up around weapons and have some LEO background so I feel like I am qualified to handle a weapon on an open carry basis but only if I know the weapon and how it works without having to stop and think about it. I am like you there are a lot of folks out there that I think about carrying a weapon open or concealed that makes me really nervous.

Oh so many Spydee...Love a S&W...favor a Ruger, Colt.......Whats a boy to do???   ::)

Cobbah, they tried open carry down here and the Floridiots were scaring the crap outta the tourists... ;D

Hell, I'd strap my Benelli M4 on the bike to garner a little more respect on the road I guess... ;D

I think the discreet carry is a social courtesy for those who carry... :coolblue:

I also have benelli M4 goes real well on one side of the bike with my SOCOMM II on the other and a 40 on each hip. No need to rack one here either mine are preracked and unloaded gun is just a short or heavy stick. I am not sure I would open carry kinda like you say respect give it til disrespected then ..........................

Unfortunately or maybe fortunately, to be disrespected is not an excuse to kill in Florida.
We have a castle doctrine, which is death to home invaders, which at one time was a problem down here...
Now since promulgation of the castle doctrine, not so much.  ;D
We also have a "no retreat" clause that allows to one to stand your ground and defend ones self...

What I was trained to say is.. "I was in fear for my life and would like to speak to my attorney"

Hope I never have to.

I only keep carried pdw's loaded,  I don't like to keep the springs loaded down on all the autoloaders.

Thats why I like wheel guns so much for the missus and the house...Ruger LCR for her Bday maybe..

Just sayinzall.

Did not mean disrepect was a reason to use deadly force I can see how my comment could be taken that way.  It looks like the law is pretty much the same here with our make my day law parallels the castle doctrine and yes I also see your point abou the springs still contend the best home defense weapon is a shotgun.  The statement you have been trained/advised to use is a very good one something we learned years ago was I was not using deadly force I was just attempting to incapacitate the susupect however kinda hard to explain 3 in the center mass and 2 in the noggin with that story. It is interesting to me to hear other view points and laws from around the country.  Do you have the extended mag on your benellli?

I agree on a scatter gun for the house, just Schmpoopy is 5 foot nuttin and a 110 pounds, she needs comfort in weapons ability.

Her Shutzhund German Shepherd Fergus does a good job in security at home though...Go ahead make his day...

I was also instructed to only shoot to kill, incapacitation brings litigation for a survivor in todays world.

My lcp has become more familiar to me.  I try and shoot weekly.

I cant get my limpdikked leo friends to buy me a mag x...buggers. Gotta spare?

I have to walk stiff legged when I carry this one but it will win an argument very quickly.

Nice... I have one of those myself. :2vrolijk_21: I use the magazines from a Glock 22 with a magazine sleeve over it so it better fits my hand and gives me extra rounds.

I see this is a old but popular thread so I thought I would join in. Since I have loved all types of weapons for several decades, mostly pistols. Sadly money does not permit me to have all I would want. A new Kimber with Laser and Night sights is first on the list as a next purchase. Some may remember these, I am old school.
Top Row: CCW is usually one of these Detonics .45 or Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special
Middle Row: Colts 1911 Series 70 cause I love them
Bottom: Italian Switchblade...last resort.
