I'm in the same camp. I'll be surprised if the dealer's don't find themselves selling these Blacked out CVO's below list.

Wouldn't count on it.  Lot's of dealer trading going on at the show with many willing to pay a premium.  For those concerned about the chrome pipes, Rinehart, since their split with Bub and self marketing again, have been rumored the last week or so to be producing the original true duals in black ceramic.

Thanks T MAC, I do agree with what you are saying about pictures verse real life. I wanted the burnt amber/hot citrus real bad, and I have yet to see one other than in a picture. I was well in to a 11 day trip and my wife kept telling me she could see green flake in my paint and all I could see was gold flake. Then one day at the same time she saw the gold and I saw the green....

I think this is going to cause a problem for dealers in the future. With the advent of so many new colors, most not in the normal color spectrum, it is going to require not only a trip to a dealer but an outside, sunlit viewing of the motorcycle to see exactly what it looks like in person. I don't think many dealers are going to be willing to roll a bike off the showroom floor so you can see it in ambient light. I liked the look of the blue '10 SEUC and thought, from the pictures, is was similar to the '09 blue until I saw one in person. There was green flake in it that made it appear more teal than blue. Then I saw (what I thought was) a blue Limited sitting right next to the front door of a dealership. As the Sun hit it, the whole bike was purple. Some people like the cameleon look of paint. It's no longer black or white.

Time will tell but with sales of all Harley's off by 40%, there going to be alot of dealers on their last legs this year that will eventually do whatever they need to do to close a sale to make it through another month. Trust me...there's lot's of discounts coming on all models. The financials never lie.

Don't worry, you'll know which dealers to go to by the fact that that they are still sitting on them in June/July. My local dealer is still sitting on the same 2010 SEUC (Red/Slate) since the Fall. Which explains why I bought the same model from another dealer. When the economy's strong they can easily hold out for the right buyer. When the economy's in the dumper and overall HD sales are down by 40%, you can rest assured that dealers that are struggling, will close any deal they can as they get close to the "finished line".

One of the local dealers is now selling the SEUC at msrp minus the 7% sales tax that they will pay. When I bought mine I got it for MSRP minus freight and handling ($600 discount). The deals will definitely get sweeter as the economy struggles and toys like our Harleys find less new owners.

The best pictures we can get, are the ones posted by fresh owners on this site. This has been proven many times over. Unfortunately that means for you U.S. guys to have to wait way past the production start. It works, however, quite well for us in Europe, since for us the models started in July seldom arrive here before next January.

Ride safely,
Louis

You have to account not only the 40% off in sales, but also the tremendous reduction in production numbers. What the Moco has been trying to do, is to adjust to much lower shipped numbers (from a high level of well over 300,000 to just making 200,000 annually). At the same time dealer inventory went down almost accordingly. In a nutshell, Harley has downsized significantly. This obviously will help to stabilize prices much better, than anything done in the past. If the economy is somewhat improving, the demand might possibly be higher than inventory.
If you're looking for a deal, sooner could be better than later.

Ride safely,
Louis

PS: To be able to buy a black 2010 CVO in Europe is going to be much harder, and we do not expect any disocunts or rebates on the very few bikes available in our market. There are not even enough for every dealer to have one on the floor.

If you get this bike, I think you're going to find that the location for the GPS mount is not ideal. The bat wing fairing has a fair amount of vibration and that vibration is going to transfer to the Zumo's screen. Its also further away from your hand for making adjustments.

After many years of riding with my Zumo attached in various locations, I have found that the the left side of the handlebar closest to the hand controls gives the best field of view while riding, closest proximity to your left hand for entries into the screen and the least amount of vibration. Just my $.02.

I appreciate your comments. We have a 2010 Street Glide with the same fairing mount, it seems to be perfect so far. I have extensively used the built-in unit in my CVO's, and also a TomTom GPS mounted on the handle bars. For me the high position works better. I'll watch the vibration, tough.

Ride safely,
Louis

Clearly beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I really like this black bike.  As far as I'm concerned (and I have one ordered), it is a beauty.

999 black 2010 SE Ultras to be built
« Reply #221 on: January 26, 2010, 05:09:30 PM »

Autoblog says "H-D slathers the dark on its new CVO model, with the whole Gloss Black Rumble Collection making its appearance on the Glide. In total, the Crimson Mist Black / Dark Slate (with flame graphics, naturally) motorcycle comes with approximately 185 unique black parts, components and accessories, which join a black and chrome Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine (that's 1803cc and 115 pound-feet of torque, H-D's biggest and most powerful factory V-twin) and a six-speed Cruise Drive transmission to complete the nearly chromeless motif.

Harley's whole bag of techno tricks are also featured on the CVO Ultra, including a 160-watt CD/AM/FM/WB/MP3 Advanced Audio System by Harman-Kardon, CB and intercom, passenger audio with controls, cruise control and standard XM Radio. Finally, the HD-specific Garmin Road Tech zūmo 660 GPS unit with touch-screen display tells you where to point the handlebars.

Want one? Harley-Davidson only plans to build 999 CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide in 2010, each with a base price of $36,499, which makes this the most expensive model in Harley's entire lineup this year.

I'm not a big fan of the "dark side" bikes but with a few mods, some that I have seen are really sharp.  If this bike looks as good in person as the photos, (with dark background) it will be an eye popper with some personalized mods.  (Mine would need to include some chrome of course.)  Regardless of the state of the economy or HD for that matter, I believe this model will sell out quickly as long as they become available in the next month or two.  Many of the dealers who are struggling today either just don't get the competitive message, (they continue to commend premium pricing, no parts discounts etc.) or are just located in extremely depressed markets.  The strong, resourceful dealer will survive and will be stronger down the road.  The unknown is how far down the road we'll need to travel before the turnaround. . . . .   Let's hope for blue skies and sunshine!  :2vrolijk_21:

I don't see anyone talking about the new color on MoCo's website.Looks like it's more than just the color, blacked out bars, gages, forks and 660 gps.
