Hi there-

Wow, sounds like a great trip- I'm from Southern Ontario (just outside of Toronto). As far as the northern part of your trip, be sure to take Highway 17 not Highway 11, as I'm sure you can see on a map that #17 is a beautiful road which follows the water, whereas #11 is quicker, but boring. I've only passed thru Thunder Bay, but as far as attractions I'm aware of, they have a nice Provincial Park called Sleeping Giant, I believe, and there are quite a few amethyst mines in the area. After that, there really isn't much as far as attractions to Sudbury, which is a mining town.

I'll carry on....it seemed I was running out of room to type??  ???

Once you get south of Sudbury on #69, you enter our cottage country, referred to as "up north"- tons and tons of lakes- Bala is a nice town, there is a cool Boston Pizza right on Lake Muskoka in Gravenhurst, and there are huge ass cottages on the big three lakes in this area- Lake Joseph, Lake Rosseau, and Lake Muskoka.
Then, there is lots in Toronto- the CN tower is probably the most famous, but since I don't know what your interests are, not sure what to suggest, but there is lots to see in TO for sure. Niagara on the Lake is a nice little town, and one of the nicest riding roads around is the Niagara Scenic Parkway which runs from Niagara on the Lake to Niagara Falls (past the falls), then onto Fort Erie (borders on Buffalo, NY)- it follows the Niagara river the whole way, with awesome scenic lookouts down in the gorge- definitely a must ride/see road. Of course, once in the falls, there's all the usual tourist attractions, Casino, etc.
Oh btw, not sure if you're travelling in mixed company, but our strip bars in Ontario are way more, ah, liberal than in a lot of the States- The Sundowner in Niagara Falls is a must go  ;). And as far as where not to go, it's very safe in Canada compared to the States- only things I would avoid is Niagara Falls, NY (nothing to see on the US side), and Buffalo....oh, and rush hour in Toronto is to be avoided- and check to see what events are going on, as traffic would obviously be a lot worse (The Molson Indy is the first week of August, I believe)

Ironically, I might be doing a similar ride this spring..... if I pull the trigger on the CVO RG, I would fly up to pick it up (the bike is west of Thunder Bay on the US border).....then I'd ride it home, but I would go down #17 to Sault St Marie, then south thru Michigan to Detroit, then back into Ontario.

One piece of advice I could give as far as lodging in Niagara Falls is to stay at the Day's Inn on Victoria,  it has sheltered (under ground) parking and is just around the corner from Clifton Hill and one of the Casino's.  Another great ride besides the Parkway is along Highway 8 from Just outside of Hamilton to Niagara. Keep me in mind when you get to the area Tom, so we might get together for a couple :drink:  There is usually a bunch of us parked with our bikes on Clifton Hill on any given night in the summer.

One more thing Tom  :) I am not sure what your time line is but if you are in the Niagara area on Aug 13th you can't miss going to a little lakeside town called Port Dover.  Every Friday the 13th this little town with a population of maybe 6000 is a meeting place for thousands of bikers.  This year there is only one Friday the 13th and it is in August.  Organizers are expecting well over 50,000 people and 30,000 bikes in town.  There is a thread here from last November, it was cold but sunny and there were about 15,000 that day. :2vrolijk_21:
