GM's is minor, you can still drive, and was done quickly.... Toyota... not so safe or quick.  There is a difference.

anyone who thinks cars are 100% perfect and crazy.  Its how a company fixes the problem that matters and how the media play up the issue that has been unfair over the past 10 years.  Its why people who drive North American cars are having such a laugh at Toyota's expense

OH Please! Better start reading more.........  North American car companies have had a lot
more recalls over the years then Toyota ever had!  Oh, by the way, I don't own a Toyota either.

Sure wish HD would take care of all their chit!

I have read, I am also aware of a number of recalls that Honda and Toyota had that never made it to the front pages, nor did their customers know of them until there was a major issue... Volkswagen was/is the same

But if the big three had anything it was front and center on the pages of the newspapers.  I remember one recall on Honda Accords that was for Transmission... you had to really bitch for them to find the recall notice.. I know, my wife was doing the bitching for her mother.  It was only the threat of a lawsuit and media attention that got them to find the recall and do the work

The fact that concerns me is that all autos and motorcycles, and aircraft today are concrolled by fly by wire. Brakes, transmissions, throttles, ect... I remember early on when a chrystler could be shut down by a ham radio runing power when it keyed up. Lack of proper shielding on chrystlers part.... This could happen to an electronic throttle caused by rough Rf miles away... Software problems are common to the auto ind. today... Evertime you take a new harley in for service its connected to a computer to check for updates. Ie. software updates to correct problems.  Not shure the public will hear the real cause of acelleration problems on any auto.  Would cause to much concern.

Just my opinion

I've had many issues with my older cars leaving me broken down or unable to start over the years.  Brakes failed on my '73 Screamin Chicken... That was fun!.  Overall, I've had much better performance, safety and reliabilty with the elecronic cars.

It kills me to admit that.  I hate computers.  But they do seem to make for a reliable bike.  Of course when they break you have no prayer of fixing them yourself on the side of the road and it costs a fortune at the garage.  I recognize that.  But I still think I prefer my EFI, ABS, TBW vehicles to my old points and condensor, drum brakes and carbs.  IMHO.

:2vrolijk_21:    Yup, I think some folks are either very young, or have very short memories.  The "good ol' days" were filled with many more failures, many more required maintenance items performed at much shorter intervals, much poorer overall performance and driveability, and many fewer features that folks today take for granted.  It isn't electronics that are the problem, it's the manner in which they have been implemented by fallible humans.  I still suspect that the Toyota issue will ultimately be traced to a shielding problem or circuit cross feed problem, and the fact that the NHTSA has received many complaints already about continued unintended acceleration problems on cars that have recently been "repaired" by Toyota under the various recalls reinforces that opinion.
