I picked up my Black Beauty May 29th but had to have someone drive it to my local dealers to get it lowered front and back before I could ride it. It's been agonizing waiting for it . I also had them put in the hidden antennae since the fairing was open to put on pull back handlebars. They bring them back 2 inches (supposedly), but they are wider than stock, which will make full lock turns more difficult. (If I ever learn to do that) Well, I picked it up and rode it for the first time yesterday.
Tomorrow I go to my Rider Skills class for slow speed work. I find that the Harley is definitely easier to turn and lean the bike than my VTX. The most difficult thing for me is the weight, especially in parking situations. I just found out Baker transmissions has a reverse gear they can put on my bike. I'm going to call Monday and schedule for that to be done. It's ok when I'm on flat grade, but I cannot move that bike one inch if theres anything resembling a bump. I hate to do it, but it's the only practical solution for me to not always be worried about being alone and getting into a position I cannot handle.
That being said, WOW, do I love that bike . It's so nice with all the toys and I just love that paint job! Awesome handling. I want to take off the tour pak because I think its so cool looking without it, but I can't . I just love all that storage. Darn.
Also, when I picked up the bike, I found a scatch on the frame between the fuel tank and the portion of the inner fairing which houses the ignition switch. The windshield has "rough edges" as well. It has to be fixed, but it's going to be hard giving that bike up for any length of time!
