CVO Bike Cover?
« on: January 22, 2006, 11:04:33 PM »

This is probably one of those "why did you ask that" kind of question, but the Lil-One didn't have have an answer, so here goes.
The cover for our FLHTCUSE states "Do Not Launder", and now it is a little dirty. What have you all done? Can it be washed or will I destroy it? Help Me!   Wrongway

Take the cover to a car wash and clean it with the car wash wand, then hang in up (off the ground) to dry. That's what I would do. But hey I am not a domestic goodness I just learned to do my laundry in the last 10 years. LOL ;D

You may want to get a fitted sheet to use on your scooter in the garage as you can definitely throw the sheet in the washing machine.

Funny, I did the sheet thing on the other 2 bikes for years, then last Fathers day the kids got me the covers.
 Thanks for your idea.  Dave

This was discussed a few months ago and thankfully some "Martha Stewart" fan mentioned [highlight]percale[/highlight] sheets are the best. Well, I went to the local Bed Bath and Beyond, they knew exactly what I needed and it has worked great. It keeps the dust out much better than the cover.

Can you imagine what the manufacturers would say if they knew the real reason for the run on "PERCALE" sheets.....

If they find out they are being used for motorcycles, the price will probably double.   ;)

You're right...we probably should have contacted "Martha" while she was in the joint.  Now that she's getting pumped up again might be hard to deal with.... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Now guys you also forgot to include us!

$139.95 white
$149.95 colors ( not to match your bike of course)

$249.95 for CVOs - it has eagle or bar&shield on it (MOCO choice of course) but they will throw in a gold pillowcase no extra charge. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

I like the practical simplicity of this discussion but if I'm going to switch to bed sheets, what thread count should I choose and is Egyptian cotton OK? All kidding aside, I suspect the only reason they are warning to avoid laundering the CVO cover is that it has probably been treated with moisture retardant that would be neutralized by the detergent. Just my opinion - no facts to back it up.

Well, as long as we're guessing......they advertise that cover as a 'indoor' cover, so I doubt it's got any water repellant in it.  But, they may have a disclaimer about laundering it due to where it's sewn together ( I can only guess that it's not made in the USA since almost none of their clothes are.......they just don't want you dissatisfied when it comes apart prematurely.  :( Har!  ;) spyder

Is Kmart still selling the Martha Stewart line?  Maybe they still have a few close outs....  Maybe it wasn't Martha Stewart...  [smiley=confused5.gif]
