Brooklyn Soldier with his his 1st and LAST CVO: FXR4
« on: March 15, 2010, 09:51:05 PM »

Hello.
I am SSG Chuck.  I am not a board guy.  I was on Jockey Journal a couple of times, but those guys are clowns.
Last night I sent a message to "skreminegul07" about Mid Controls for an FXR4 and he was so nice, I figure I should post and maybe meet some other people that can help me in my pursuit of the perfect FXR.

Here are my bikes:
I have a 60 Pan in a 57 straight leg ridged with a 12 over 48 Springer, Drum brakes and jockey.
I have a little 350lb ridged with a 105 HP 80 inch EVO with no front brake and jockey
I have a 4 up 2 out ridged with a 113 inch EVO producing 140 lbs of torque to the rear wheel - Jockey shift of course...

then there WAS my work horse, a 2006 Street Bob, with apes and mild motor work.

Well after my 2nd tour, I returned home and someone had stolen my 2006.  I was pissed, but I was never really attached to her.  Never got into the whole DYNA thing.  Never got into the whole TwinCam thing.  And I definitely never got into the whole Fuel Injection thing.

OK
It's working.
Like I said, I never really posted before...

Anyway, I was always looking at the FXR.  I heard such great things about her, I thought maybe I CAN BOND with a swing arm.
I put around 15000 miles combined on my bikes each year.  I travel from NY to FT BRAGG, FT BENNING, TO FT PLOK - All over, and usually on the ridged 113 or the PAN.

Well I came across an FXR4 about 6-8 months ago for a steal.  They guy had bought it from his son, his son was supposed to pay him back, it sat for 3 years in a garage, then I came along and bought it.  Cleaned out the carb, changed the plugs, and gave her some fresh oil and gas, and voala!!  She was awake.  She had just over 10,000 miles on her.
Someone had put raked trees on her and forward controls.  Aside from that it was stock.  I threw on a set of XL trees and legs to bring her back to the way god intended.  Now I am hunting for the MIDS to throw back on her.  I have the brackets but NOT the internals to go into the Primary.  Everything else I think I can fab.
I already ripped the motor down and sent the heads out for massaging, got my woods cam, the RB Pipe is under my bed and the Mikuni and Ignition are in the garage.  I want her to stay 80 inches and still kick the chit out of the 96 Twinkies!!
I am pulling off the sheet metal to preserve it (Yellow is not really me), and I am going to try to make a nice tank for her, and throw on a NESS fairing my bro gave me when I cam home.

Found a pic of my pan!!!

She looks a little different know, this was taken about 3.5 years ago when she had a mouse trap..

The motor is stock (probably a wopping 45 HP on a good day), but she takes me to the Smoke Out and back (When the Smoke Outr wasn't gay).

here she is.
Note the Mouse Trap.  They are kool but nothing - I mean nothing beats a jockey on a ratchet top!!!
God I love the ratchet top.

I have a little more stiff to do to her, but right now I am concentrating on Operation Twinkie Killer!!

Well thats all i have to say about that.
Had a good time postin.  I will keep u guys updated on the FXR project.  I know some of you are like "How can he do that to an FXR4 CVO!!!"
I know
I know
I see it like this...
The FXR is (Supposed to be - I have not verified it yet) amazing, best handleing Motorcycle to come out of the factory.
This machine is supposed to go fast, fast and faster.
I was in love with the FXR4 because it is the last of the greatest.  It is the last EVO to EVER come out of the factory - hell it is a 2000 HD EVO!!!!  I wanted her to live up to her FULL 80 INCH potential.  As for the sheet metal.  I have to be me.  I bought her not because she is a CVO, but because she is the last of the legend, and I want her to be all that she can be.
So for all the purists - Sorry.  You wpould be even more pissed off to find out how much I paid - But I figure it was karma for my scoot getting robbed.
For all the performance minded FXR fanatics out there...

You will have to post some pictures when you finish....

And I have an idea you won't worry to much about what others think....which is how it should be...
