I'm not doing a very good job of explaining my question. I understand that the factory map can be restored to the ECM. I uploaded the factory map to computer #1. I want to back it up to computer #2. I have copied the map and it is in a file folder in computer #2 but I can't load it into the Master Tune program on Computer #2. If computer #1 crashes and all the data is lost, how could you restore the factory map if you had to from computer #2?
I have some maps including the MTE file on a thumb drive, which would be the same as any other drive on any computer. I keep that with the bike when I do long trips, just in case some dealer wants to see the "oem" map before he does any warranty work!
Never had to use it, but, I DID change some tables in one of my tunes last summer, just to deal with different conditions.
I would think any computer drive you have that file on would work just fine as long as you have the proper interface matching your VIN on your bike.
Never heard of anyone having any problem there, yours should work just fine.
You can't "load" the MTE files into mastertune to look at, it is just used to "restore" to bring your bike back to OEM specs.
I hope this helps a little.
