V&H Power Duals - Question Regarding O2 Sensors
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:41:02 PM »

Just had power duals and hi-out put slip-ons installed.  Look and sound awesome.  Based on some previous forum comments I asked V&H back in Jan. about the location of the sensors and the need to relocate them on the power duals.  Their response was: >>The Power Duals will perform better than the Dresser Duals. The o2 sensor mounts have been relocated for the 2010 model. It is incorrect that our 2010 pipes had the 2009 mount locations. If they claimed that, then they purchased the incorrect part number (2009 part number).<<  When I got home I realized the sensor on the rear cylinder pipe was relocated and is now up high on the pipe.  You can see it just below and to the left of the AC.  Is this consistent with what everyone else received for 2010 power duals.  I really like the location of the 2010 stock sensors!  :confused5:

Thanks guys!  I just wonder why V&H told me what they did.  I guess I just assumed that the 2010 V&H pipes would be located the same as the stock ones.  Where are the 2009 sensors located?  Overall, they look great!  And this is coming from someone who was very against the "X" in the heat shield until I saw it in person.  :drink:

Slamr.  I've had my Power Duals on since November and that's where my O2 sensor for the rear cylinder is also.  According to V&H it doesn't pose a problem with the O2 sensor arrangement like they've done it.  the 07-09's had the non-heated version of 02 sensors and both the front and rear sensors were located about 5" down the pipe from the head.  I didn't notice where the rear sensor was after I had them installed untill the mechanic pointed out to me that he had to reroute the wiring for the rear sensor to make up for the new position.  Doesn't seem to be an issue having the sensor there.

I would just keep an eye on them located that close to the exhaust port. The smaller sensors are not going to be able to take the heat under heavy load like the old larger ones.

The Power Duals work fine however Steves ''X'' pipe with the stepped system works even better....in my opnion Fullsac ''X'' pipe is a must with a built 103 or larger.

Someone, DS or CC makes chrome covers. I'll look around to see if I can find a listing.

I have the V&H Power Dual and the sensor is located in the same as yours.  I also called V&H and informed them of the need to relocate the sensor lower and pointing so as not to be so obvious, they had nothing to say about it.  With my setup I have 94.23 HP and 110.5 Torque.  Horny Toad HD in Temple, TX performed the dyno.

Here's a link to the covers I mentioned.  Not sure how they would look installed and they only come as a set.

Anyone have any experience with these?

I'm just double checking myself . The black sensor connection is for the back cylinder. Correct ?
