They need to throw in some freakin' HID headlamps that throw off some serious light, and make the rest of the lamps LED.  They need to make the CVO's the showoff bikes to get those with standard models to want to buy those extras they saw on the SE's.

Eventually, they will have no choice but to phase out air and go to water cool. In my prying with the rep's, all I could get was a smile and a wink, but no doubt we'll see one in the next couple of years. I agree getting the sound and feel are probably the biggest issues, but I'd be open to giving it a hard look. If it provided better performance, didn't look/sound ridiculous, and finally gave us a convenient oil filter location, why not? Granted, they have a whole bunch of other areas to focus on as well, but it's definitely coming.

I Certainly don't want anyone to feel old, but it was 25 years ago today that Coke made the biggest marketing plunder in history when they introduced their new Coke and did away with their 99 year formula that made them the #1 selling soft drink in the world!  As we all know just 3 months later after a worldwide revolt and Pepsi gaining ground on them in the marketplace, there was the rebirth of the Coca Cola Classic formula which is still used today and the new formula was eventually taken off the market.

I'm sure Harley-Davidson is not interested in making a similar mistake and no doubt with Willie G. still involved they won't be changing to liquid anytime soon...  Not long after the V-Rod was introduced, to answer numerous questions about when the Harley touring fleet would get a liquid cooled engine (according to my dealer who heard his reply), Willie simply answered "not while I'm alive!"

I think we'll see a larger engine long before we ever see a liquid cool one, if we ever see one???

My guess is they will do the exact same models as last year.   The ultra will always be there and the rest were the first year of a normal two year cycle.  Albeit they sometimes fool us like the SESG one year offer

VW bugs died out because of the CAT requirements, now all motorcycles are required them. History doesn't lie and we must learn from it. I'm not saying they will be water cooled this year, but unless something changes about the heat they will have to cool it off someway.

as for 2011 I don't believe there will be any mayor changes besides - hopefully - the long overdue modernization of the softails.

Those bikes are really outdated now.

I would have no heartache with  water cooled.  It is the missing link now that we have closed loop fuel injection.  Would be nice to see the engine temp as stable as the newer cars.  I think then you could also get the performance out of them.

I would expect a streetglide "limited" since it is the hot seller and it costs the Moco nothing to make it a 103.

OK...I'll play.

I think the SESG is a one year wonder...the SERG was a one year wonder and really the only difference between the two bikes is the fork vs. frame mounted fairing...so combined it has had a two year run and I'm OK with that...makes our SESG (and SERG) rare bikes! :pepper:

With respect to water cooled, I agree it's coming. When I don't know but do it right (i.e. engine cooler, lots of power etc.) and keep it a "Harley" and people will buy it.

I remember when Porsche went from air cooled to water cooled in 1999 with their 996 model...the "diehards" screamed bloody murder and the 996 model is not a well loved model, but Porsche improved on that model and went to their 997 model and now their 997.2 model and even the "diehards" are now buying them...people will adapt if the "product" is done right.

And of course, I could be "out to lunch" but it's all fun and games right now! :)
