finally got new pipes
« on: February 06, 2006, 11:48:36 AM »

After nearly 3 weeks of trying to find the time to install my new pipes, I finally got the chance this weekend. Added V&H true duals, V&H ovals, SERT and SE stage 1 air cleaner.

I put the hookers on with the original header (with crossover) and had the local shop run them on the dyno.  The tuner had a hell of a time getting them set up and at the end could only get 93 TQ with a little too much decel popping.  I finely did what I should have done from the begining and ordered a set of Freedom Pipes that JeffJ recommended.  They should be in any day and then ebay will see the old pipes... hey, I have to recoup some of the loss. 8-)

Congrats!
I am still trying to decide wether to go with the Freedom set up or the V&H setup that you have. I would really like to hear from some people on the comparison of the 2. What made you decide to go with V&H vs the Freedom set up. Sound, $$$, Performance? Thanks. [smiley=confused5.gif]

I now have a problem that I call the "black hole effect" where you can see the starter and solenoid more open.

Hi luckyrebel

I was undecided between the Freedom setup and the V&H.    I went with the V&H setup because I am familiar with them. My other bike has V&H and thought the quality and fit was very good.  Also more familiar with the SERT.   I did speak with the guys at Freedom and they were great with answering the questions I had with their pipes & power commander.   Nothing wrong with Freedom,  just wanted a little quieter pipe than I think the Freedom pipes are.  Money was about the same and really was not a factor.  Performance comparison I am not sure about, but I have no complaints about the added power I got with the V&H and SERT setup.

Thanks Hazer,
I am leaning towards the V&H for much the same reasons. Most of what I hear about the Freedoms sure sounds good though. I'll be making a decision soon, bike is scheduled to ship 2/17. Hope it is not delayed.
