P.S. – Note to my krewe on the West Coast – Specifically one member that was chosen! WHERE ARE WE GOING AND WHEN? I want to be there!
Jock,
Because you've put together such a great gallery of photo's with documentation shooting straight from the hip I'll let you know my preliminary thought.
You will not want to take on this adventure from atop a Moped and it will test your metal from atop some of the best bikes such as Road Glides.
People have been documented doing this trip from atop a Mr. Ed. A Senile Mr. Ed has been documented in the area. At one of the area sites Al Gore mentioned to Bill Clinton "Bill you should get your head up there" and Bill replied "Nah, Monica doesn't like heights".
The Ridin Adventure falls in line with suggestions from others. The ride requires logistics involving attendance, location, weather, distance, stimulation, cost, comfort, and enjoyment.
The preliminary dates are July 18 - 22, 2011. Later than this year's event in hopes of avoiding lengthy rainy days. (Outside of California it is much harder to predict the weather!)
From the Bay and L. A. areas it will be about a 22 hour 1400 mile trip, from Atlanta about 26 hours, 1550 miles. Less from Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and more from Miami.
It will involve 2 historically famous locations known for the wildness of bygone days and one optional day through an area known for it's natural beauty.
An airport with helicopter pad is close enough for attendees wishing to or having to miss the adventure of riding to the event and exploring territories outside of some people's comfort zones.

Will have to get back to you after more research.
P.S. Keep this info to yourself until I provide further info to everyone.
