It seems as though I could have several problems, it does have a SERT installed. I thought it felt more like ACRS, only because I had a built bike with manual releases and.....oops ,forgot to release them a couple of times at first, made the similar sound. The MOCO did specify "compensator." sounds like, give them the $130, and maybe they can figure it out?
OK, it's got a SERT. Who "installed" the map and/or tuned the bike? If it was this dealership, the one that's trying to extort $130, and they left the ACR's disabled, they owe you, not the other way around. Make absolutely certain the ACR's are enabled and actually working. If they aren't, a new starter drive, or new starter, or a different compensator isn't going to fix anything.
As for the compensator, if you enjoy having people extort money from you under false pretenses, then by all means go ahead. Otherwise, just tell them to fix the bike and send the bill to H-D or eat it themselves. There is absolutely no reason to pay them to fix a problem that's still under warranty (or that the dealership possibly caused if they did the SERT).
Oh, btw, the MOCO isn't a dealership, it's the manufacturer. Big difference in what a dealership tries to tell you, and the actual manufacturer of the product. Your dealership is the one pushing the compensator "upgrade", not Harley-Davidson Motor Company (the MoCo).
