2010 SESG Dyno results...thought it would be better
« on: July 24, 2010, 10:55:30 AM »

I have done some upgrades, SE heavy breather, Andrews 54 cams, Fullsac header pipe, Vance and Hines monster rounds and a TTS tuner. 95.4 horse and 100.2 lbs TQ.
I guess I thought it would be better being I had a 2008 Street Glide and with some mods got 100 and 100.
I also have a friend with a 2008 SE Road Glide take his in to the same Dyno, his build was SE 260 cams, Thunder header 2 into 1, AC and a SERT...funny thing...95 horse and 100 lbs TQ. ????????? What is going on, are we down on compression? something is holding these 110's back? :confused5:

Adding a Cometic .030 head gasket, to bring up the compresion. Will help give you a bit more HP/TQ.

I too was expecting more out of my SERG3 mild build; Prostreet heads by Dewey, TW408-88 Woods Cam, TTS Mastertune, Fullsac X-Pipe with 2.25" Baffles. My Dyno run was 99hp with 110ft lbs of tork. I have no doubt that a D&D Fat cat would add 10hp to this build but I am just going to ride it as is for the rest of the summer and this winter install aftermarket jugs & pistons.

You can get better out of your 110.  Thanks to JCZ and Jim I opted for Fueling 574 cam, Fullsac header/muffler cores and the HD SEPT.  Bolt in cam with HD SE adjustable push rods resulted in no headwork, head gaskets, compression changes, etc.  After a couple hours on the dyno... 107.8hp and 109.3torque. Do a search on the forum and you will see these numbers have been consistent with everyone who has opted for this setup.  I think JCZ summed it up best as to why he opted for this setup....affordability, rideability and reliability.  The Andrew cams should give you numbers very close to these (the curves for these cams are very similar)...something is off...time on the dyno should get you the numbers you are seeking. Give Steve a call at Fullsac.

hey JC3,   what is a  Fueling 574 cam,and who makes them, that sounds like  a fun ride  , no use wasting money on head work i guess with numbers like that :bananarock:

106.57 HP and 111.13 TQ on my dyno.  But the icing on the cake is that it breaks 100 lbs. torque at only 2700 rpm......that spells street usable, rider usable power.  Note the power curve is very smooth all the way across the power band with no dips or bounces in power.

And all of this with no head work, keeping the reliability and longevity (and more $$ in my pockets!).  O.K. it's not really more money in my pockets.......it's money I didn't have to begin with. :nixweiss:

If you're interested in this kind of performance shoot Jim (hd-dude on this forum) a PM and give him a day or two.....he'll get back to you.  Click on this link to see my dyno sheet......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=44545.0

Sid,

My questions are what gear was your dyno taken in and what type of dyno was it.  How do you rate the caliber of your tuner?  Typically 5th gear with a Yuill cam and no headwork we were seeing 116 tq and 104 hp +/- 2 depending this was with rinehart true duals and Yuill true duals.   As you have also seen better numbers from fueling cam with the 110s.  dunno if 110 mofo's dynosheet is on the site, but open air breather, yuill pipes, tune and yb14-sec07 cam 115/105 and it runs good.

Sid I would also check out this 09 110 4th gear pull dynosheet. Just a breather and pipes ...

Was this your own combination or was it suggested to you?

I will scan my dyno sheet and post it tomorrow, but by looking at it I believe it was a 5th gear pull with run conditions 87 degrees with humidity 51%. The Dyno sheet says Dynojet Winpep7. It hits 100ft lbs just befor 3000rpm and peaks at 110ft lbs just over 3500rpm. It carries this tork till about 4200rpm and then slowly falls off steady. As it crosses the 5250 rpm the tork and hp are at about 97.

The combo was suggested by Don @ Heads by Dewey. My goal was to have a ridable RG that appears stock but yet runs very good. Will do more work to it this winter.  :carrot:

I had it on the Dyno just to be sure that there wasn't something terribly wrong since this was first time I assembled internal motor components. The dyno guy at HotRod Harley was not real familar with the TTS but knew a little about it and said he had tunned a few hundred harleys on his dyno.

Sid,

Did you get the map from your tuner?  What are your plans for this winter with the motor?   My biggest concern is that it is carrying the torque for only 1200 rpms based on what you posted above and it is barely above stock numbers.   The stock 255 cam carries longer, it is typically 2200-4200 before it bellies over.

Do you have another dynojet 250i in the area that you can get a tq/hp run on for comparison sake (not a tune).

By chance do you know any of the following information ?

Have you done a leak down test as well as a cold / wet / hot cranking compression test on your bike since the build is now done and tuned?

Leak down to be sure you dont have ring / wall issues?

Any idea what your piston to wall clearance is ?  .002 ?

cold / hot / wet cranking compression to know what your static compression ?

What is your squish set to ?

Which head gasket did you use and how thick was your head gasket ?

How far were your pistons down in the hole if they were ?

All good questions, and the tune??. What run were they on when they sampled horsepower?

I don't think there are a lot of tuners that get the Lambda setup yet. The real tuners get it.
Sid I am assuming yours is a 10, not sure though, can't remember.

Looks like the OP (OP=Original Poster) was a 10' SG, but Sid's appears to be  by the picture anyhow an 09 Road Glide.  Making it narrow band.  Baby Dewey, wouldnt your build sheet have that information on it ?    ::)

New guy here but I find this thread very interesting, seems to me you guys may using cams with much too late of an intake close. This is a before and after comparison of a 2010 convertible, the after is with a set of cyclerama 575 (35 degree intake closing) cams and Rhinehart 2 into 1 pipe. Tuned with a tts.

Razorback

Welcome to the site. Nice build. Is your CR 575 cam noisy?

The cams are VERY quiet and just physically viewing them they do not have the super aggresive square looking lobes of some of the other cams out there.
