no more patch cable for the zumo

Road Tech™ Navigation Interface Module

Available exclusively for Harley-Davidson® Road Tech™ zumo Navigation Systems. The Navigation Interface Module will provide an integrated link between the fairing-mounted Advanced Audio Radio and a Road Tech™ zumo 660 or 665 GPS Navigator.

MSRP US $149.95

I wonder why they don't say it will fit with the 550?

Worst part is it not working with the Bluetooth kit though, which is an essential for me.  Might buy one to see why, and if it's surmountable!

I think it's because after the very poor sales of last year, not helped by huge price increases, they still have a huge inventory of parts.  Note that for the first time, they haven't changed ANYTHING - same grips, brake pedal, shift pedals, highway pegs. Even the flame graphics are the same as last year.

It's a second attempt (after that awful blacked out aberration mid-10) to shift the inventory of parts that they hoped would sell on the CUSE5.

You are correct, EXCEPT for the mirrors. Looks like a new design. I think they look better then the 09' & 10" edition. I don't hate my mirrors, they just seem to attract more bugs and are more of a pain in the azz to to clean!

I agree - I didn't like the 09/10 mirrors at all - have the 07 CUSE2 mirrors on my 09, as they look a lot better IMO.

I do not see any reason that it will not work with the 550 or any GPS with an external stereo output port. The kit does not mute the radio's output it just lowers the volume of the radio when a turn direction signal is present. This being the case you would not be able to MP3 or XM via the GPS, which is why they include the cable to connect the GPS to the AUX input. At least that is how I see it working, without the kit this is just my quess.

Interesting that is works just like a MixIt although it is less expensive then a MixIt.

Yes, that would be my guess too Jim. Adapter cable isn't shown in the picture though.

Any theory about why it won't work with the Bluetooth kit?

It's probably using the interupt circuit that the BlueTooth uses.....just a guess....

If so, why won't both be able to use it, I wonder - maybe I'll buy one and experiment.....

JimBiss(et)

Without the wiring diagram for the kit I can not say for sure why it won't work with the Bluetooth kit but my guess is that they are using the same wires as the Bluetooth kit.

Interesting that I have had a prototype sitting on my bench for 6 months now that does pretty much the same thing. Only the one I am working on would allow you to listen to the radio or the GPS XM or MP3 from the GPS and then would interrupt any output when a turn direction signal is present. Looks like I can leave it on the bench, where it has been since riding season opened up.
