Hey Steve, I agree about what your said that if you don't have all the pins in correctly you can have comm. problems. I have installed 3 cell set modules, and the first one took me about 3 hours there set up called for more removal and installation of the pins in the 23 and 35 harness. So I got a little practice at pin removal.

Now I rechecked that I followed the instructions over and over, and I have a Road Tech. I have a few questions for you?
(Did your set up work in AUX?)= My GPS works great in AUX, but I did get any turn info in any other mode. I'm going to give it a good road test today
(On page 3 /4 of the instructions Item 4. = mating of 6A and 6B to the NIM harness)

Steve you know what I'm looking over the electrical diagram for my 09 CVO I'm going to recheck that 6A-6B and get back to you.

My unit does not use a pre-signal so it would work with any GPS with an audio output.

My first thought was that the 660 & 665 sent out a pre-signal seams to be correct. Harley & Garmin must have talked about this. If a pre-signal can be sent via software from a Road Tech then is can be sent from a Zumo with the correct software version. Unless Harley made a deal with Garmin not to offer the software to Zumo owners. Just another Harley scam to get you to spend money in their store. I need to find a replacement for my oscope to see if in fact this is true and what type of signal is being sent. Any signal can be duplicated and if there is a pre signal then one could make a module that would send the signal when ever there was an output from any GPS.

I know another pill....

I just had another idea!

I would like to know the ones that installed the NIM, for the connection to 6A and the NIM what did you do with 6C-6D? the instruction did not address that. I wonder if that may be the case? You can only see 6C-D in SE service manual the FLH tour manual doesnt depict 6C-D, just 6A-B IAW the instruction.

I didn't  even test it in aux, and had nothing plugged into the front panel aux port. Time was a bit limited because I was borrowing the RT. Both his and my radios were in FM mode and the module worked perfectly several times in both bikes.

What do 6c and 6d plug into? If they are plugged in between 6a and 6b like the NIM module, I'd first replace them with the NIM module to see if it works. If it does, then I'd daisy chain all of them so 6a-6d and the NIM module are all hooked up.

Someone suggested wiping my Zumo and replacing it with the info off a Road Tech, but I just don't have the ability to do that right now n

Well, I don't think that is going to work because you wouldn't have access to the actual software that runs the Road Tech. I doubt it's available from a website if it's as proprietary as it sounds. If so, anyone could buy a Zumo and then download the software too.

I agree. It's something in the firmware, not accessible to us, I'd guess.

Wasn't your 6- connected to c,d then 6 B? what year is your bike? When I eliminate c/d I get nothing from the radio.

Good luck.  They have 3 dealers calling in not being able to get them working.  The guy I was working with is gone for a week now.  Apparently, I am the first person they've talked to that has attempted both interfaces 9iPod and NIM) at the same time.  There intention is to get the modules and a bike and install them so they can help when someone calls in, but it's not likely that will happen for at least a week.

Since a and b are male and female, and the 2 from the NIM module are male and female as well, I'd guess that c and d are as well.  I'd hook A from the radio to one on the NIM, then the other from the NIM to C and then D to B.  When the NIM is not operating, they should just act as a passthrough.

That is what I thought, but still INOP. I don't know what else to do, I'll back HD with the resolution number that they gave me. My be they will have some answers.

My NIM went back to the Dealer yesterday.  The Parts MGR gave me some crap about it, asking if it had been installed as they don't take returns on installed electrical.  I pointed out that the cable assembly package was still sealed in the original Harley bag (cable is the same in the iPod interface).  Damned if he didn't smell the module, examine the bag very closely, I almost expected him to bring out a magnifying glass.  He relented a bit when I told him there was a Customer Service number that directed them to take the return.  Kinda pissed me off, I've dealt with them for a long time and never taken advantage of them in this kind of situation.
