Don't know how long it will stay up, but here it is.

I just checked bidding has ended. No bids. I really like that color. I think I saw a post in the vendor reports topic about how bad that Scranton PA HD is. Could be wrong. They do have a high number with +feedback.

Bidding ended on it with no bids made.   :nixweiss:

If you click on the 0 bids link it will take you to the page showing the actual bids. Mine is the 25,000 bid. I also found a email from Ebay that came 16 minutes after the one confirming me as the high bidder saying -

Dear eBay Community Member,
The bid that you entered for the item (130422329253) has been cancelled. You can view the reason provided for the cancellation by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page.

Please be cautious if you are contacted about purchasing this item after the bid has been cancelled and as always avoid paying for your eBay item using instant wire transfer services through Western Union or MoneyGram as these payment methods are unsafe when paying someone you do not know.

Regards,
eBay

Isn't "cancelled" spelled wrong??

If the bids don't go over the reserve, I think this can happen. However, if the reserve is surpassed and the guy doesn't have a local sale disclaimer, I think you might have a case.  However, trying to get ebay involved will take an act of God. They don't give a crap about nothing.

I'm betting however that the guy has the reserve up pretty high and is purposely trying to circumvent ebay and reel in direct buyers.  Bottom-line is, based on everything you said, it seems this dealer is a pretty unethical bunch of people, and I'd probably not want to risk dealing with them.

Yeah, and if they sold it already and I did have a case, then what ya know?

Did the dealer have a note in his add stating the bike was on his floor for sale and auction could end early?

Seller's can't do that anymore.  If eBay catches it they'll send you a polite note stating you have violated their listing policy.

It's eBay's playground and their rules.  A seller can pull an auction for any reason prior to 12 hours before the auction's end.  A seller can cancel any bid he wants in that same time frame.  It's not about fair.  That's the rules.  Period.  Conversely a bidder can remove his bids during that same time frame.  So either side can get bit.

Worrying about it is irrelevant.  It's the rules for playing on eBay.  As for fighting it or chasing a dealer or a seller... Huh...?  Do you really want to buy from a guy who is proving before the sale he's a jackass and might not be be trusted?

Thats all I needed to know. Never said I wanted to buy from them. As they said from the last phone call "bike was sold". Just thought it was a chitty thing to do 15 minutes after the reserve got met. Now that I know the rules, no sweat. I don't deal on there enough to know. I always try to buy and sell as local as possible.

Thanks.

I was bidding on a 2009 CVO on EBAY (thru a dealer). I was the top bidder and reserve had been met with 6 days left. 3 hours later I click the link in my email to view item, and it shows zero bidders and a new starting bid.

I have messaged the seller and I am waiting a response. I searched "Contact Ebay" for answers but cannot find the one I need.

Is this normal, legal, fair?

Rob

Rob, pull the new link up and at the bottom there is a "Report this Post" click on it and do your thing.

Good Luck

Jerry

Rob... That really sucks....sorry to hear about it....thats not right... you won the bike bidding on it fair and square.  I bought my bike on ebay a year ago from a private owner.  I was fortunate enough to check the bike out and party who owned it  before i bid on it.   I was lucky the bike was only 70 miles from me.  Hang in there....there will be another 09 that will come up. 8)

Just because it's a bit of a "Wild West" environment to work within sometimes fortunately (for me anyway) doesn't mean the experiences have been terrible.  Both buying and selling I've had good luck.  An effective due diligence is required.  But if you do that and know when to walk away it's an effective environment to move spare parts and collect others.

Suffice it to say that Ebay'ers are mostly on their own.  Ebay is like any other multi-national corporation...they don't give a damn about anything but the MONEY!  There are a lot of honest as well as dishonest people lurking on Ebay.  I started my powder coating business on Ebay some years ago.  We had amassed over 1,200 "positive" feedback" before we decided not to use them anymore.  While our sales mostly went smoothly, there were times when people tried to scam us, etc., and I can honestly say that Ebay was NEVER helpful.  We lost money several times thanks to them.  I guess what I'm trying to say is...don't expect much help from them and you won't be disappointed...

Ebay is not the problem it is the seller.  Obviously the dealer does not care or someone there made a mistake with the listing and found a way to remove it.

The majority of their feedback is as a Buyer not a seller  :nixweiss:.  And it appears by price sold - most of the bikes were older and used (except for the 2010 Triumph - which they probally took on trade at a great price).

The BIG issue for me is in the description - they have NO in the warranty not sure when this bike was purchased but it should have at least a few months warranty if not longer -  the dealer show was less than a month ago which would put a New 2009 bought in 2008 having to be purchased immediately to go out of warranty in August.  IF they cannot get the description right - I Do Not want to do business with them.  Warranty is an Important item with a Harley ;D

I sold my bike on ebay this Spring -  the buyer LOVES it.  I took a hit when I sold it but seeing what other bikes are going for I feel fortunate to have sold it for the price.  The transaction could not have been easier for both of us - I miss my bike but I am Glad that it went to a good guy and not some additional markup of BS from a dealer.

The Dealer does not DESERVE your business  -  I have some buddies here that really need work but I always pass this old saying to them "You have never lost money over a job you did not get" .   This sounds like a similar situation with this dealer.  If he was going to do the Right thing he would do it without involvement from Ebay and if he wants to do the wrong thing then I am not sure if Ebay has the power to change that.

Your Exactly Right, Ive had hundreds of transactions on e-bay and 99.9 percent were positive, there are some safeguards for your payments if you use paypal, but E-Bay cannot force anybody to sell you an item if they choose not to. I won a set of expensive mufflers with no reserve for $25.00 and paid immediately, when the seller refused to ship, paypal refunded my money, and e-bay supposedly took some punitive action. Paypal has assisted me a number of times on charge backs and in every case because I had good transaction and shipping records my money was returned. If you want a buying quagmire go through Craigslist, there are no protections at all and scams are everywhere.
