Ok thanks. It makes me wonder if the powder coat baking can cause issues,
As related to me by shops that work with it regularly it
could; with emphasis on the "could." I told Axtell I was buying their cylinders either way. And I could live with or without the powder coating. Then asked for their recommendation and told them I expected them to stand by the jugs after the work was done since I was following their recommendation. Chaz (at Axtell) didn't flinch saying they were fine
if Sumax did the color work.
I had my administrative issues with Sumax. What a CF trying to get things moved through their shop and sorting out hassles they caused. But the color work itself was ok. More importantly according to Axtell they do whatever they need to in processing and/or handling that the finish machining isn't jeopardized by their work.
Don't get me wrong. I'd rather take a swift kick in both nads from a long legged woman in heavy boots who understood the concept of inertia before I personally sent anything to Sumax again. That's perhaps the biggest reason the SERK project won't see parts that get final critical machining have any color work done. But my problems with them wasn't the actual application of the color work they did.
