Hey Wheels... does your lowbeam stay on with the highbeam?  mine does... the high doesn't add a tremendous amount of additional light.

They are bright though!

Mal

Yes our bikes stock dual bulbs are wired that way they both stay on in High beam. Same here though the High beam does not add much as the low is so bright.

You could probably get away with just putting in an H* low beam and forget the High beam.  :nixweiss:

But at $80.00 why not if for some reason the low went out you still have the high as a backup  :2vrolijk_21:

By the way the HID does not seem to get any hotter than my Halogens did. I have cleaned them hot before and it seems about the same.

Yes Installed mine yesterday and man what a difference last night. Probably the most bang for the buck mod so far!

By the way the H11 bulbs do not come with connectors and the H8 bulbs do. If I was doing it again I would order 2 H8 bulbs they interchange and it has all the connectors on it.

You could probably just do the low beam you may never need High again except to let other drivers "know you are on low beam"

Wheels,
Where and how did you mount the ballast?

Thanks,
Mike

Couldn't wait Wheels... I'll likely get them before you...

I went with the 6k on both bulbs... I like the blue tint.

1 DDM Motorcycle HID Kit, 55W, H11, 6000K (Kit / Package)
Bulb Type: H11
Bulb Color: 6000K
Wattage: 55W (+$7.50)
 DDMMoto55W.H11.6000K $30.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 DDM Motorcycle HID Kit, 55W, H8, 6000K (Kit / Package)
Bulb Color: 6000K
Bulb Type: H8
Wattage: 55W (+$7.50)
 DDMMoto55W.H8.6000K $30.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subtotal:  $60.00
Tax:  $0.00
Shipping:  $25.37 FedEx 2nd Day Air

I didn't know an H8 bulb fit in a Harley headlamp, and that's the first time I've heard of a 55w HID ballast. All mine are 35w.

Wheels,
Where and how did you mount the ballast?

Thanks,
Mike

I used double sided tape and mounted it to the top of the stereo. I do get some slight interference when the ballast starts. I will move them when I put the new bars on

The difference between the expensive factory HID kit and the cheap HID bulbs is that the factory kit is "DOT approved for use in 50 states" and the bulbs are most likely illegal in 50 states.

I'm sure these won't either if aimed correctly.....
