I too rarely find an opportunity to use the potential of my motor.  If I run it to red line through the gears I have buried the needle past 120 and it is still pulling hard in 5th.  I find myself shifting mostly around 4K or so at the most.  Dealer just called again.  $13500 to boot is the bottom line with bike, both motors and wheels.  Been reading the forums for 110 issues and possible performance.  I truely do not want to chase horsepower again and a pipe/tune is about as far as I want to go.  Would that give me 95/95 at the rear wheel???  Told dealer will make decision by Tuesday of next week.  Thanks for the insight. No doubt it would.

And I have heard that before with my 03 and 05.....and I did regret it.  That is why I ended up with my current bike.  My version of a "CVO" if you would.  Lots to think about between now and Tuesday.  Thanks for your replies. Spook

I am about 85% sure I will keep my 06 Street Glide.  It is not a money issue.  It is a fear of getting a bike that is not  what I want...  Been doing a bunch of research on the 110 and frankly am not impressed with what I have read.  Granted this is the web so most everything is to taken with a liberal dose of skeptism but correct me if I am wrong on a good day this motor turns out about 100/100 with pipes and tune. Then there are the reliability issues....Am I wrong about this??  Anyway until someone can convince me otherwise I guess my old black beast will be with me for awhile.  But I sure do like the looks of that org/blk.  Maybe wait a year of two and pick one up on the used market.  Thanks for your replies and suggestions.  They have been appreciated. Spook.

Not sure that spending 2k on the bike gets you to 100/100, probably close though.

Spook,

I have a 2010 FLHXSE.  First thing I did was full pipes, Vance and Hines Dresser Duals (true duals) and their HI-Output SO's.  Everything else has been for the ride of the bike, i.e. new seat, new stereo, etc etc.

I just had the bike dyno tuned with the SESPT at my local dealer.  I am based around 6000' above sea level, and my numbers are 114.51 ft/lbs torque, and 92.89 horsepower, all at the back wheel.

And it's plenty fast enough for me, and I am just 30 yrs/old.  I love to go fast, and the guys I ride with have to keep up with me, but I love everything about this bike.

If you want to keep the 06, I've got a friend that swears by the TrueTrack.  It's a frame bolt on that takes the wobble out of the front end.  Might be worth investigating.

Thanks for the reply.  I had the tru track installed before I picked up the bike.  While it won't corner like my GSA it does ok for itself in the twisties.  Call me overly cautious but the other CVO bikes I had are haunting me.  Last one I sold with less than 2K on the clock...can't even recall why.  Still really ambivilant on my decision.  Like I said, 13.5 large is nothing to sneeze at but gaining 5 years and a ton of sophistication is most likely worth it.  That said there is something honest and solid about a carbed bike that has actually kind of a personality, be it ornery, stubborn and headstrong.  Its the difference between pushing the start button and the bike comes to life.  The 06, the compression releases need to be set, the throttle wacked 3 times, choke out, gas on, turn it over to top of compression stroke, reset the compression releases and THEN hit the starter and blam! it snorts to life, setting off car alarms and making small animals run.  Got to like that.  Call me old school but I sometimes think it is the decision to come into the now verses having the last touring bike that HD made.  Just saying.  Spook

The last 2 CVO bikes I had (03 and 05) I put $$$$ into the motors.  These were the 03 Road King (which I hated from the first mile and affectionately nick named it "Monkey Piss" because of the color) and a red CVO electra glide that I sold with 1300 miles on the clock.

I take that back, going through my old records: $3700 spent on the engine and a 95 road king walked away from it....bad memories.  Of course he had cams, head work and higher compression and that was a 103 motor with those sucky heads.  I am a slow learner at times, but I certainly don't want history to repeat itself.  Hmmmm wonder who I could get to copy that org/black paint scheme on my tins????  Thanks for the reply.  Spook.

I'd suggest you get yourself a 2010 used Streetglide in whatsoever colour, put in the engine you do dream of and have it painted as you like. Ride it and if you are still happy with it after 10.000 m sell the old SG to a consumer.

If you got a bike you are really happy with don't give it away before you are shure to have better replacement.

Unless I can find someone to buy the bike and appreciate it for what it is and what it can do I will keep it.  Can't handle the idea of the dealer taking the bike apart just to make more profit.  Call me weird but I respect mechanical things that work well.  So after all is said and done.  All my angst.  All the indecision, it comes down to the fact that my bike has treated me well and I don't want it taken apart to make an extra buck.  Thanks for your replies. Decision made.  Called dealer and told him no thanks.  Interestingly I talk to the head wrench who built my current bike.  He is actually what made my decision relatively easy.  He expressed true doubt if I would be content with a 2011 bike.  I had to give him my word before he stated he was hoping that I wouldn't trade.  Go figure.  Thanks to all for listening to me whine, wring hands and grit teeth while I came to this decision.  Love the looks of the 2011 and will be looking to buy one used in a year or two....to park next to my beast.  Ride safe.  Spook

JMHO I would sell the BMW too, but thats me...

I have a BMW R1200GS and I will never be without a big adventure tourer! My CVO Harley is great but the GS can eat highway miles, scratch with sport bikes, blast down fire roads, and I can ride all over the ranch checking out the livestock. KEEP the GS!

No thought given to selling my GSA.  Most versitile bike I have ever ridden.  No drama, just does its job.  Kinda of ugly but hey, beauty is as beauty does.  Thanks for the reply.  Spook.
