OK, dumb question here, I think.
Scotr's sounded great so with 500 watts as opposed to his 250 how much better will that sound?
Will it be louder? Will 500 be clearer? At speed (70 to 85) will it perform/ be clearer than the 250?
Will a 500 cost twice what a 250 does?
Is the 500 more quality or just more quantity?
I'm not concerned about the lowers but a 09 SEUC w/4 J&M speakers with 500 should rock.
If I'm going all out should I send the radio to Iron Cross to do any magic to power that J&M amp and speakers?
Inquiring minds want to know. And me to?

 ;D

Thanks everyone... it sounds like J&M is the way to go.

I've seen the threads on the J&M 500W amp but I dont think I will need 4 channels.

Dave29, FLSTFI Dave, & DABB.. do you use a full face helmet? If so is the radio loud/clear enough to hear a cruising speeds?
No I do not wear a full face, just a beanie.  I have no doubt you could hear it with a full face though.  Wife on her bike with a full face can hear it at red lights

Umm...the JM 250 watts is measured onto a 2 ohm impedance speaker system, that means it is 70ish watts at 4 ohms.

The Hawg Wired PSC 150 watts is 75 per channel into 4 ohms..

Jussayinzall, the "happy" numbers are not always bigger.

Disclosure:  I have the HW 2 channel psc150 watt into 4 ohm on my bike...very loud and clear.

SC1502 Specifications
Input Channels: 2 High/Low Level
Output Channels: 2 Channels
Nominal Output Impedance: 4 ohms
Nominal Power Output (Watts RMS): 150 Watts (75Wx2)
Frequency Response: 10Hz-50kHz
Low Level (RCA Line-In) Sensitivity: 200MV – 6V
High Level (Speaker-In) Sensitivity: 400MV – 12V
Input Impedance: 33K ohms
PSC1502 Dimensions: 6.50”W x 3.75”D x 1.50”H

Class-T® Amplifier Sound Quality Typically:
00.005% THD+N @ 70W 4 ohms
00.010% THD+N @ 75W 4 ohms
10.000% THD+N @ 117W 4 ohms
Dynamic Range: 103DB
Over-Current & Over-Temperature Protection
Turn-On & Turn-Off Pop Suppression

I could not find the unit specifications on the J&M...

Well the engineer in me says go for the Hawg Wired based on the specs... but because of the reviews I pulled the trigger and purchased the J&M set up from Shawn at Dr. V Twin. I hope I'll be happy.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm sure you will....I'm not picking sides...I do know the HW system adds some weight to the bars on a bat wing, the speakers are heavy, very large magnets..I wish I had ordered the speaker grilles so I could see how bitchin they are... :P

Rumor has it that by the 1st of the year Hog Wired will be coming out with a larger speaker to replace the 5.25". I think it is going to be 6.5".....A tech guy told me that if you have the hog wired system now and don't think the speakers are big enough, just buy an adaptor ring (5.25 to 6.5") and purchase a highend set of automotive speakers (4 ohms).

I have the HW system in my SERG3 with their 2 speakers and once I dialed in the gain and freq (and got a 12" windshield) the system is very good, even Xm is easily heard at highway speeds.

I have the HW 2 channel psc150 watt into 4 ohm on my bike with the speaker grills that inc the tweeters...very loud and clear (SERG3). I use a 12" Windvest windshield and a SHOEI Multitec full face helmet. I hardly ever ride at more than 80 for extended lenghts of time but I can hear the music clearly. Have a buddy with J&M system, he is disappointed in his after riding my bike. I am more impressed with mine after riding his.

Labcab...to answer your question, I wear a 3/4 helmet, openface. I run the volume at about 1/2 at 75mph.
