Pitbull bike lifts
« on: September 22, 2010, 03:34:51 PM »

Dose anybody have a bike lift from Pitbull, I saw them at a bike show. They  looked good, went pretty high, but seem to be pricey, is it worth the money?

Try J & S Jacks (jsjacks.com).  Better pricing and every bit as good.  Made in the USA near Green Bay, WI.

I also hae a Pitbull--well worth the money. I looked at the J&S, but the Pitbull lifts 7 inches higher which made it worth the extra money to me.

Both have their uses....but if I had the room I would have bought a good quality lift table. The Pitbull allows you to move the bike around the garage as needed or even outside for for washing. You won't be able to do that with a table.

I have the air/hyd lift. The air jack is china and has had some issues. Apparently "american made" does not include the jack. Handle for moving lift is a mucho poc. It does lift high and is very stable.

I've had mine for years with no problems. Well worth the cost I even let my wife use it when she cleans my bike! ;D

I have a Pit Bull lift. Stable. Sturdy. Two keys after I tried a wobbly cheaper lift. The thing's a rock.  Yes, it's pricey, but I see it as bike and injury insurance when I'm underneath with the bike in the air. Cheap price for peace of mind.

I have used the Sears and it wouldn't fit under the bike and would not go up high enough, waste of time for my needs. I purchased the Pit Bull and I like how high it goes, very solid. I also use it for my Polaris ATV and it works even better for that.  I have had bad luck with the little bottle jack made in China (what isn't) I just had my second bottle jack delivered last week at no charge.  I haven't used every jack out there but the ability to get the height is well worth it for me. Maybe someday I'll get a quality table lift.  I occasionally see the Pit Bulls on Craig's list for $200 -$250.

Good Luck

I just bought a used pitbull lift. Problem is, it wont fit under my bike unless I first roll it up on 1-1/2" of stacked plywood shims front and rear, in addition I must straighten bike and carefully pull the pb lift under the bike from the right side with foot w/o dropping the bike (it's still so close it grazes the frame as it slides under) then bend way over and pump jack with hand till it has a firm hold, (while still straddling bike). Because of the snug fit the bike wont fall over after it's under bike before it's raised. After the very unpleasant ordeal of getting the bike airborn it is very solid and much easier to work on/clean/move around. I measured 18 inches between floor and tire at max height. The pitbull specs say 25" but thats the top of the lift where it meets the frame; not actual lifted bike height as would be defined by a table lift. So a big difference in the two numbers. My bike is factory height but of coarse the CVO's are factory lowered. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for it.  I could get a table lift but it would swallow too much floor space rendering my garage useless for anything besides bikes/ATVs.  At least the pitbull lift is somewhat storeable when not in use.

My Pit Bull lift is great.  One of things I like is when the bike is up in the air, I can move it around the garage to a different location if needed.

I bought the turn-table accessory but haven't had the need to install it yet. Just wondering if anyone else installed the turn-table and if so, is it worth while..? I'm assuming that with it attached, oil changes can't be done.

If you have the room and $$$ nothing compares to a good lift table. I have a high-end jack and would really love a table.
