The continuing saga: Finally got the repairs completed. I can't believe it's been almost 3 months since I bought it. Already have almost 3k miles on her. I elected to forego some of the cosmetic repairs and saved enough on the insurance that I was able to buy the color matched detachable tour pack and mount.
I have wired a garage door opener velcroed to the top of the iPod unit under the fairing skin by taking the case apart, removing the button from the opener, soldering across the contacts and then extending the wires that went to the 9 volt battery. Black to a ground and the red to the unused orange lead on the “ACC” wiring harness under the seat. (The other leads are used to power the light on the luggage rack.) I don't plan to put anything else on the "ACC" circuit so, why not use it that way? If I do put another accessory on it I will just add another button for it. Now I don’t have to fumble for the garage door opener, don’t have to take my hand off the clutch and I don’t have to pay the MOCO for their transmitter thingy.
I have seen some threads here about the reflector on the rear fender and how to remove it. Mine just fell off by itself!!
