The speakers and grilles are Infinity Reference 6.5" 2 ohm speakers, not the OEM HD speakers/grilles. I chose the Infinitys because that's what I have in the fairing. I also used stainless steel sheet metal screws, temporarily, to secure the grilles and speakers to the speaker boxes.
I have the Arc 125.2 amp installed and will rewire to have the amp drive the fairing lower speakers, and connect the front speakers to the HK head unit. I have the fader control, so the fairing lower speakers will be the "rear" speakers and the fairing speakers the "front." I'd previously had the Hogtunes fairing lower speaker kit with HT amp, and removed them since I couldn't hear them (at least not distinctly) while riding (Rinehart TD's and 3/4 helmet). I'm optimistic that the amp driven speakers in the lowers will work better. If so, I'll disassemble the speakers/boxes and have them color matched this winter when I have some other paint work done.
In the pre-install picture, the wire harnesses shown are for the CVO SG installation. I chose them because they come with a weather seal. Unfortunately, I purchased the wrong connectors to mate with the weather seal connectors, so no sound, yet. Hopefully, I'll get it right soon and get to test the system on the road.
Bottom line: the CVO SG speaker boxes are a direct replacement of the glove boxes in the vented lowers; accept aftermarket speakers without drilling additional holes; and, it's a simple DIY project.
