cometic gasket
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:33:57 AM »

how many 10ths of compression can one expect to gain in a 110ci motor with andrews 54h cams in going to a cometic .030 instead of the stock gasket....

Just curious...

Thanks.

What gasket is .060? The OEM is .052 isn't it? That is the one I have. Is there a later revision and what is the compressed height of that? Thanks

Thanks for the input guys, i was told that they should be either .045 or .052 stock. i am just going to have them decked to bring the compression up to 9.8 and install some adjustable push rods. Andrews said that 9.8 was a good number for the 54 cam and that is what i am going with. trying to stay away from the harder starting and a ping machine, but yet have a good power combination.

.052" is correct for the stock head gaskets.
Based on the calculator that I have the compression will increase by .39 going from a .052 to a .030 head gasket

Head gasket -.015 will give approx .3 in compression, .030 vs the stock .045 gasket.

A little of topic but why are the 2011 110 motors rated @ 9.15 - 1 vs earlier 110 @ 9.3 -1? What did Harley change in the motor to loss 0.15 compression?

I could easily be wrong here - but I think the head gaskets went from .04something to .052...

The '07 and '08 110's were listed at 9.3:1, the '09 and later 110's are listed at 9.15:1.  The head gasket part number changed for '09 from 16801-07A to 16801-07B.

That would do it. Must have been when the "fixed" the leak.

Starting to think that spending the money to have the heads decked to 9.8 compression and to have new adjustable push rods installed isnt worth the money when i can mearly change the head gasket to get to 9.6 and save the money.

is the 225.00 for .2 of worth it???? power wise and dependability wise?????
