The easy way to check is to cut open the oil filter when changed.  The tensioner pads are bright orange and the pieces are easy to spot inside the filter. I went with gear drive cams a long time ago so no problems except for a little gear whine. Next time youve got money to spend put in the feulinng hp kit and gear drive. These 103 motors are high milers so get busy. Im nearing 60k

I'm turning 60k too.  I went with S & S 570 cams.  I like em. Bike is strong and no orange stuff in the oil.

Cvostu,

whats the bike putting out with the 570's, and did you do any head work or compression increases?  I am presuming you went gear drive by the no orange stuff comment.

Yep,, gear drive,,  no problems with them at all, but you can hear them at times.. had the bike dyno'd at 115 hp and 118 torque.   No major head work,  i had John Sachs clean up the pistons and modify the valves when he installed the cams.   Real happy with the way it turned out and still does pretty good on gas.. Thats why I still have it and not a new one. I went with the TTS too.
