OK, my 2 cents:
I have just under ~40k miles on my 04 SEEG.
I have gone back with the stock Harley dunlops 4 times (2 rears for every front) and never really thought much about the tires, until this last replacement. The front tire was cupping at ~50% tread left. Never had that happen before. so, i goe's looking for somthing new, and finally settled on the Michelin Commanders. The whole feel of the bike is different. Handles so much better than with the dunlops, i really didnt know what i was missing. Some might say its not good, but i now regulary scrap my foot boards on the pavment in the turns, never did that before. It just didnt feel comfortable to lean as much before the michelin's.
There are a lot of good tires out there .. can’t say yet how the tread is gona last, but its not really one of my big concerns. I associate tread wear with grip (some may argue with that). Grip is good. I can afford tires every other year. Especially now that I have learned to change and balance my own tires. Much cheaper that way.
